I don't see why people would want to relocate the Rogers Centre though.

I don't think anyone does. Location is by far the best thing it has going. As a small town tourist, I find it fun to be part of the wave of people who converge on downtown Toronto from southern Ontario and beyond for Jays games (and presumably for Leafs and Raptors games too though I've never been a part of that).

Agreeed. RC is in an amazing spot. Could look nicer if they actually used all those fountains outside etc.

I don't live in Toronto but I can't imagine much topping the feel of the home opener. It's the one day where that huge seating capacity is actually an advantage. No other sporting event (presumably) brings in as many people and livens up the downtown core like that. I wasn't around for the Raptors playoff games though which did seem like a blast.

I went to one Argos game where it was playoffs and there were something like 45k in Rogers Center, it's a totally different feeling than the usual ~20k fans.

2010 Olympic gold game was pretty sweet downtown. I can only dream of a deep leafs + raptors playoff run, and a strong jays + TFC team all at the same time.

Argo games draw 20k?

Not sure if that's actual attendance or tickets sold though

I was in Dundas Sq. for this, it was A LOT of fun.

The Canada/US WBC game a few years ago at the Dome (the one Canada should have won) was one of the best live events I've ever attended. Raptors playoff games are insane as well. Amazing atmosphere.

Jays home openers are just parties. Half the people there are just fair weather fans looking to get drunk and could care less about the game itself. That's not my cup of tea and thus I rarely attend them anymore.

What small town are you from KingKat? Wasaga Beach here - and I whole heartily agree with you on this.

This is true. I stopped going to home openers because of the drunken idiots. The number of times I've had beer spill on me or seen beer spilt on someone else is sad. I've seen a lot of families get up and leave because of many crude fans, and then there were those paper airplanes...

I love drinking/chirping the other team but the line is crossed by many at home opener.

I got my tickets purchased and ready to go! Section 113AR, best opening day tickets I've had thus far. If you ever change your mind about going to the home opener checkout prosportstours.ca. They are located in Kitchener (I know you're a K-W resident). This is the company we bought our tickets from, this year it was $125 for your ticket and a luxury coach to and from the game.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. I'd obviously consider going if I had the money, lower bowl is probably much better fan wise.

I thought so too. I actually purchased an extra ticket for a friend of mine who works downtown Toronto, he won't even be taking the bus. I went on stubhub and the same tickets (a few rows further back) were going for $125 USD/ticket. Made me feel a bit better.

The home opener is no place for a family with kids under say 12 years old.

Seriously. It's disgusting. The whole experience is like the polar opposite of why most people go to baseball games on summer afternoons. I went to the '07 opener and it was like a damn NFL game.

Looks like JPA is getting good use out of that Wieters voodoo doll.

An NL GM would take Adam Jones over Mike Trout:

"Adam Jones is a five-tool guy who comes to beat you every day and is a great leader," an NL GM said of the Orioles' center fielder. "I love Trout, but I just love Jones a little more."

Stewart or RAJ for sure.

Wow now there is some dumb.

Picking Jones over trout is bad, but Sal Perez over Trout? Blake Swihart? Are these guys f***ing kidding?

I'm thinking there had to be some misunderstanding of the question. Maybe they thought they weren't for sure anonymous so they wanted to give lip service to their own players, or maybe the question was worded in such a way to illicit creative out of the box responses.

They couldn't take their own players. Just 3 players to start a franchise with. Some may have been taking salaries into account.

Ok, maybe there was a loose definition of "Executive" and they just asked the 7 present personalities of the now demented Cito Gaston.

Yeah, that would make sense. Trout has had a big drop in defense and baserunning too (not that he isn't still ridiculously valuable)

This is an excellent deal for the Marlins. Yelich is a stud.
