I was the same but I found a good way to mix in your veggies is with a smoothie. Put in kale, spinach, leek, celery, carrots, or what ever you'd like and then put in some frozen fruits like mixed berries, mango, banana, pineapple. Put in some Greek yogurt, almond milk, flex seeds, macha powder and what ever to balance the flavor/texture. Its comes out pretty good and don't taste the veggies as much.

I don't mind most vegetables, I'm just lazy.

Vitamins, protein and BCAAs are not necessary if your diet is complete. I take vitamins and protein because I eat a lot of garbage and not enough vegetables. I don't even bother with BCAAs, you get enough of that if your diet is high in protein.

Yeah my diet isn't great yet either but it's heading in the right direction, I'll def consider dropping the supplements if I can master my diet on a regular basis though because they are so goddam expensive! I even have a veggie powder supplement that I'm throwing into my smoothies now until I get into the zone with my diet.

B) There's absolutely no lack of minor league innings, that's a pretty outrageous remark. Minor league salaries are next to nothing, if Belisario was weak in spring training or something popped up on his physical, they could just relegate him to the minors on a low contract that costs them very little and gives them a very strong depth option.

No team will ever pull out of a minor league deal, unless the guaranteed major league portion is very high (in this case, it wasn't).

O.K. Whatever, I almost took the MiLB portion of that out and probably should of because it's basically irrelevant. A lot of the MiLB deals come with the caveat that the player will be given his release if he doesn't make the team. The rest of my point still stands though. You can't get a good look at a million guys during spring training. You have to make some choices.

Right.

Getting a look at Belisario over Jenkins or Drabek or any of the large host of scrubs they'll have there fighting for bullpen spots is an easy choice.

They always enter spring training with an assload of guys who they cut out in waves throughout the month and a half that they're there. They also have more than one facility running more than one game at a time, so it's almost never a problem getting people playing time.

As for the MiLB portion being irrelevant, it absolutely isn't. It's the exact point I'm trying to make in why this deal wouldn't fall through on the Jays end. If they're going to grant him his release on not making the team anyway, then why would they not test him out in spring training? It's a built-in out for them, there's no point pulling out before getting a look at him.

I just can't stand the taste and combo of green veggies & fruits. I can't even drink V8 lol. I put flax oil in my fruit smoothies and also cillium husk. I heard chia seeds are similar to cillium husk and are supposed to be really good too for cleaning your intestines out.

I use water instead of milks, what does the macha powder do?

Makes no sense on a minor league deal. Had to have fallen through on Belisario's side.

I don't know about that. MiLB contracts still involve an investment in money and time. If the physical is such that you have no faith the player can contribute, you move on. There's only so much money to go around and more critically there are only so many spring training innings and MiLB innings to go around. There are still a lot of relievers out there that could be auditioning for a spot besides Belisario.

It did fall through on Belisario's side per Ang's post above.

Yeah, I made my comment before reading the rest of the thread. I acknowledged Ang's post above :)

"a) This is now moot, because as I read the rest of the thread, it was confirmed that it did fall through on Belisairo's side"

Aaaaaaand, NVM.

lol, looks like we both made the exact same blunder. Commenting before reading the rest of the thread.

Progressive overload: so if you're doing 35lbs x 10 reps = 350 lbs of weight moved. In order to move past this plateau, you need to move more weight period. For example, if you were to simply change routine to 40 lbs x 9 reps, that = 360 lbs of weight moved. Obviously this is a small increase, but it's crucial to continue to move increase these numbers in order to break plateau, and reach your goals.

cool, never thought of it like that.

9 reps at 40 may be a bit too much for me initially, I might start to break at 6-7, but I guess I'll experiment next week.

Why are you doing 10 reps? If you can do 10 reps of anything you are clearly strong enough to increase your weight. Always max out at least once or twice a week with your chest. If you can put 1-2 reps of 55-60 during your next workout that is a huge step forward. You'll be using the big boy weights in no time.

I dunno, I guess I just picked an arbitrary point to start with. I could always try heavier with low reps, but it almost feels like I'm not improving anything since I don't feel the burn.

lol If you go to failure you are pushing yourself much more than moving minimal weight. Use dumbbells starting out to increase your strength.. better range of motion and if you get stuck you aren't going to drop the bar on your neck.

Yeah I've actually hit a plateau for quite awhile now, and I've been aware of it and trying to fix it gradually.

When I do dumbell presses for example I started out with 25's, and now I'm on 35's for a few months now. Only 10 reps. Would you consider increasing to 40's and only doing 5 reps as an increase? I really try to push myself harder each session but my muscles just can't deal with the increase and I have to end up doing drop sets

Go for the bench, easier on your shoulders I find. I had 2 shoulder surgeries so I don't do much free weights but I can still do 205 , 10x3. I actually try to do 11 reps before I increase in weight but I think I am maxed at this weight due to my shoulder issues. Proper form is better than increasing your weight just to say you can do X weight.

Alternatively, you could go 30x12 to still get 360 lbs of weight moved. I'm not a big fan of high reps when trying to build muscle, but I'm also not naive enough to believe there is only one right way to do things.

Mott's Garden Coctail is where it's at. I could drink like 3 bottles of that stuff a day.

Thanks for the tips, yeah supplements can be crazy expensive! I don't really keep track of my daily calorie intake or tabs on my macro so I'll try to monitor that more and I'll research the BMR. I do 16 reps and try to increase the weight on my last set to max out, that might be a mistake however so I appreciate your info.

I can't believe you drink coffee before your workouts, you must be bouncing off walls!!

Search Michael Kory BMR calculations. He has a ton of YouTube videos ranging from recipies, workouts and calculating these types of things. I believe the BMR segment is a two part series.

These aren't gospel by any means, and it's not the end of the world if you're a little out of range. But if you get in the habit you begin to hold yourself accountable, and they're great reference points.

funny you should mention that - I'm terrible at bench press. I don't know what is wrong but I always struggle with it.

I can do a 35x10 for 3 sets for the dumbell shoulder press, but for the bench press with a bar I haven't been able to progress past benching 95 pounds. In fact my last session I started off with my 35x10x3 and then after doing three sets of back exercises I tried to do a bench press of 95 and I couldn't finish 2 sets. My very last rep I actually struggled to put the bar on the rack and I felt like I was going to drop the whole thing on my chest.

I don't know what's wrong - my form (though I don't think it's out of the ordinary), maybe my muscles are fatigued from the previous exercises, maybe my triceps are still sore from arm day..

Sometimes it's hard to tell. One of these females was a male... Would you be able to guess which one? Especially if you were drunk.

They all look like they were born men. The biceps, facial structures and hands give them all away. Wasn't sure about the second one at first glance, but dat bicep.

Anyways, I need to get back into shape. I'm not overweight at all, just don't get nearly enough activity as I should since I started university. I play beer league soccer in the summer. I need to get back into hockey.

You really need to do some reading online. If you want something to increase then why not do it first? Maybe you should tell us your workout split. I started doing PUSH/PULL/LEGS twice a week. I think it's great.

Oh yeah trust me I've did a lot of background reading on several articles and browsed a lot @ bodybuilding awhile back. I even had a personal trainer for my 1st 3 months just to get the ball rolling.

I split my week in three workout days with each day focusing one area. Arm day (tri/bi/shoulder), chest/back and leg day. As for specific exercises, that really changes day by day and of course due to availability at the gym. But I guess I need to start to pay attention to that more due to iso/compound exercises.
