He's (without good reason) being groomed for the Jays job, which makes me think if anything AA will move to president once Beest is officially out...and it's a new GM they will be looking for.

I think AA would actually be a good president. He is great at talking and negotiating which could be great for convincing Rogers to spend more money when it comes time. He sure as hell would be better than guys like Ken Williams. As for GM I would think Lacava would be promoted to GM, no? He seems to be AA's right hand man.

Where do I apply... This job will be easy... What's your angle, who's baby is that, I'll buy that and Got Rum! Fack I can do that! Plus I know how to put socks on too! :) then I hire this board to scout and decide the fate of players by web polls at 50 cents a vote! Should add at least 50 mill to payroll right there the way debates rage on here alone! Then I start the Bluejays channel, add camera's to all minor league parks and broadcast home games live or delayed and afl games as well as spring training games too! Yup we will be rolling in money f*** you Yankees ! And Boston too! :)

Considering he turned down a GM role in Boston for a lot more money, I'm pretty sure he simply wants to stay in Oakland.

that was a decade plus ago, things can change in that amount of time

Here is Olney's blurb on it.

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/post/_/id/8895

Loser and winner: Dan Duquette, general manager of the Baltimore Orioles.

He was reminded the other day by Baltimore owner Peter Angelos that he has an existing contract that runs through 2018 and that he will be expected to honor that contract, rather than pursue the job of CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays.

In spite of that declarative statement, however, this situation has legs. There are folks in Major League Baseball who want the Orioles to allow Duquette to go to the Blue Jays, given his past work in Canada as the general manager of the Montreal Expos. If a deal can be worked out to satisfy Angelos, a hard negotiator, then Duquette may well be on the move. The Orioles are in position to demand a significant concession from the Blue Jays’ ownership, which is more about the macro than the micro, and it probably wouldn’t hesitate to part with something good if it can get the man it wants.

If the Jays don’t give Angelos what he wants, well, he won’t let Duquette go. Anybody who knows Angelos’ history as a negotiator knows this.

I don't think people will pay to vote. I think you need to hire a few of the posters as "beat writers" and "insiders" and "scouts". This is to artificially raise the value of certain players.

Maybe give them tweet accoutns. Here some possible blue jays inside tweets.

"Blue Jays scouts and insiders still regard Ryan Goins as a valuable asset. "Our analytic guys found a couple of flaws in the formulas. Goins defense is even better than advertised and he had some bad luck on line drives. And of course all our scouts still love him."

"Nararo had more rbis and homeruns than Martin. We're not stupid, we know rbis aren't everything. But talk to Joe Madden and he'll tell you about Navarro's effect on the staff in 2008 and 2009. Madden isn't stupid either."

"Reyes is like Jeter. The formulas underrate his defense. His leadership is top notch. He missed a few games the last couple of years, but it happens. Happened to Jeter a couple of times. then Jeter came back and led the league in hits at 38... and had the Yankees in playoffs every year until that last injury in the 2012 playoffs. All our guys expect the same from Reyes in his mid to late 30s."

I do believe Goins has more to offer....

If he raises his on base percentage from .231 to .250 that's technically more.

If he hits .280 in 550 at bats that would be awesome actually... it would help the Jays a lot and this place would go nuts.

Gruber - "Bow JFAS and fangraphs before the rule of Gruber. My time will not be brief. Ryan Goins has risen and so have I. Projections and stats are over and most of all the WAR is over and an era of peace, under my 100 year rule, has begun"

Was peaking around in the O's Hangout (I know, I know, I am a terrible person) and they've got a thread going stating that the MLB is pushing O's to let DD go to Toronto. http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php/145599-MLB-pushing-for-O-s-to-let-Duquette-go-to-Toronto Didn't see that mentioned recently.

that place is hilarious.

If he hit .280 over 550 AB's, he'd be worth like 6 wins.

And if my penis cured cancer, I'd be f***ing a lot of bald chicks!

he's played approximately half a season right now and provided 11.2 runs above replacement in defensive value. Assuming this is his true talent doubling it will be rounded to 2.3 WAR (approximately based on 10 runs per win) based on defense alone. There better be something with that .280 average (including Goins having a leg transplant with someone who can run) to get him up to a 6 win 2B.

Do any of these candidates even have business experience? Seems like all these "targets" are just other team's GMs...

Trust me they don't need it. They can hire whoever they want to make the business side work

I was very confused when I first saw "Blue Jays Interested In Rizzo" on MLBTR. Instantly thought of Anthony Rizzo till I read the rest of it.

Isn't Rizzo pretty dumn or am I confusing him with their manager?

Believe he is. Do not want.

Only things I care about in a pres are:

- business savvy

- persuasive

- open minded

A guy like Tim Leiweke would be great. Probably knows dick all about baseball but leaves all the personnel decions to a GM.

Dan Duquette being a good GM doesn't mean much unless we want him and AA to clash.

Word.. Shout out to GD.

So now you're going to question his defensive value with a half a season sample?

Lol..

A half a season of defensive metrics is not stable unless you're going to tell me he's better than Andrelton Simmons
