glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Trade Reyes and a prospect for Matt Kemp and then add a real SS. Hanley's value had to go down because of his defense, that's all I can think of. That's a very good deal for such a good hitter. If SS's who can't play defense are declining in value that much, dump Reyes where you can. Come on Friedman, do us a favor.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Lol that's not even a question..Ramirez and its not close
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 AA needs to go hard after Lester now.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Yep, it's time to get Lester and trade for Saunders.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 i hope that is true, that's too cheap for someone else to get Hanley for.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Yep, it's time to get Lester and trade for Saunders. McCarthy instead pls
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 McCarthy instead pls I hope this is a bad joke. You'd rather have McCarthy who's started over 25 games once in his career?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Could be a s*** ton of incentives for PA reached or something. lets hope so. Red Sox could have a really good team next year. Their lineup is really good and they have the prospects to move for pitching. Edit: As I wrote this it apparently is 4/88 with a vesting 22M option.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 lol 4 years 88mil with a vesting option for 22 mil? Damn thats a steal.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 lol 4 years 88mil with a vesting option for 22 mil? Damn thats a steal. well its not as good as 90/5
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm not sure if 5/110 is a steal. yeah thats a boat load. Basically its saying Hanley = Every other top FA, which is not what I agree with.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm not sure if 5/110 is a steal. Well, considering they aren't locked into him for when he's over 35 years old, they got a short term deal, it's a pretty decent deal. It's not like they just signed a catcher until he's 37 or anything, right?
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Martin will be a far better player for the next 5 years, especially if Hanley is in LF. Right, just like all your projections that happen. What if Martin isn't catching at 36 or 37 years old? He's not exactly the best bat to have as a DH or 1B. I mean, your guarantee isn't really worth anything. You can't question a team that has made the playoffs as much as the Red Sox have in the last 20 years. They know what they are doing. Hanley is still a solid bat, and can play play 3b if they don't sign Sandoval.

xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Both Sandoval and Hanley were ranked higher as free agents than Martin as well on most published lists.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I would like to point out that Hanley has an attitude problem that could come into play in a year or two. He supposedly threw a hissy fit in Miami when he was playing 3B, saying that he wanted to play SS. This was AFTER Hanley offered to play 3B if Miaimi could sign Reyes. Then once Reyes took over SS, Hanley changed his mind
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I like this deal for Boston although I'd like it more if they signed him to play 3B.

However no saying he is going to keep that frame of mind.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm not sure if 5/110 is a steal. I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. 5 for 90 made me go hmmn...5 for 110 is more like what teams like the redsox pay for players like hanley. I don't want the Redsox getting any deals.
