TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Vlad Jr + tons high ceiling guys > 70M Moncada Vladdy Little + tons of high ceiling guys + Hector Olivera > Moncada
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 I really hope he doesn't break his verbal agreement. That would hurt a lot at this point thinking hes ours. He's spending money from that deal.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Vladdy Little + tons of high ceiling guys + Hector Olivera > Moncada Power for days Vlad Jr, Starling Heredia ( ) and Jhailyn Ortiz
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Thats pretty dumb lol. What if he gets a bad injury and the Blue Jays decide to back out. Wouldn't be the first time that happend. It's a good thing he has a highly successful father....
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The sound on the second swing is beautiful.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 You would mooch off your father Orgy Filler. Someone sounds bitter
43211234 Verified Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 That's a weird follow through on his swing, where he wraps the bat behind his head. I'm no scout so I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just interesting.

metafour Verified Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 McDaniel just tweeted that the '15 IFA class is deeper than it was last year. Good news for us if we actually plan on going big.
flafson Verified Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The Vimo clip shows that he uses a different stance every time, i would guess he's very raw. Starling Heredia with a Bautista leg kick looks good, are we getting him? EDIT: I just noticed they rate him as the number 1 prospect in that upcoming draft, no way we are getting him.

That double leg tap load thing is way too funky to be viable as a pro. Seems to really whip the bat through the zone will though. Heredia looks like Bautista in BP but Rajai Davis in game action. Get 'em all and hope some work out!

And Yes, both are very very raw. 3 or 4 months ago, Vlad destroyed 16, 17 and some 18 years old kids (SF Giants complex and Jays complex) Vlad Jr made Ynoa (800K signing bonus) his bitch in the Tampa Bay Complex last time I saw him batting real action.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 newb question angrioter ~ regarding hyped DR players that weren't born from rich families (like baby guerrero) and have yet to be signed.. Who pays for these guys to train? Where do they get all the money for equipment, training, food, lodging, e.t.c.? Primarily buscones? It amazes me how DR is such a poor country, but where do you get all this food and exercise equipment to work these guys up?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Can't wait till the rankings come out. I assume were going to spend something in the neighborhood of 10-12M. I'm curious who else we've signed/targeted other than Vlad Jr. Maybe that Jhailyn Ortiz guy or Tatis Jr.

Many "Buscones" rented a house with 4 or 5 bedrooms for boys with talent; Feed them and buy sport equipments for them. Jose Serra (Best Cubs scout in Latin America) "rescued" Felix Pie from a very poor area and turned him into a ballplayer, and then signed him (Chicago Cubs)

Pretty sure if they don't have the resources they go to academies in the DR where they're housed, trained and fed free of charge. If they end up signing with an MLB team, they give a percentage back to their trainer. Edit: Ang already answered

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I'm not bitter at all. He chooses to attack me in every thread so why not throw it back at him. Hes still bitter about me being right about Colby Rasmus. lol wut

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Gas plants powered by burros and burritos. Methane power plants? Sounds pretty unsustainable.

He son is no here (San Pedro De Macoris) Your wife was a cleat chaser, wasn't she? I hope that translates okay as I didn't mean that as an insult. I'd like to add to the stuff about the academies. With the changes to the rules where kids are not allowed to attend major league sponsored academies before they sign, there are some in DR that are concerned about two things. The overall health of the youth of the nation (not to mention the health of baseball over time). Also, that some not so good locals are taking advantage of the kids. I don't think it was right that teams were essentially making deals with 14 year olds, but it's not the answer to ban these kids from something which helped them out.
