imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 actually if McDaniel had this reported in October...he still had it before Ang. Ang was the first one to report it that the Jays signed him
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 How much do you guys think the Jays will spend in the International Market this summer?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Ang was the first one to report it that the Jays signed him Yes but only because McDaniel didn't reveal it. Ang lacks the respect to his sources. Honestly I'm just kidding around I love our Mexican contingent and his sources.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Curious to see how much the Jays will go over budget in the upcoming signing period. Maybe the reason the big league payroll is smaller than what we thought is because they are going to spend 15 million on IFAs?

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Let's just hope you aren't his source.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Guerrero and Moncada! No, they'll be free agents.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I've read that somewhere on here, they plan on going big. Yeah but "big" is such a grey area lol. That could mean 10 million, or it could mean 30 million like Yankees last year.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 No, they'll be free agents. Sorry, JG34, Moncada's going to be a free agent. Guerrero's a sign out of the IFA pool, very different.

Regardless, the aggressiveness suits me just fine, the article I read was they'd put the Yankees to shame and it wouldn't intefere with MLB payroll. IIRC.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Damn, I thought due to his age he was going to be an IFA. No, he's played proball at an extremely young age, he's just waiting on his instatement by the US government.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Damn, I thought due to his age he was going to be an IFA. He is, Moncada is regarded the same way as Guerrero by MLB. He falls under the IFA bonus rules and such. The team that signs him will pay a lot of tax.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Can't wait until mini Vlad signs with some other team and we can all take turns laughing at Ang. Who was the big name guy that Ang said was getting suspended? Did that ever happen? nvm just noticed that Kiley Mc is saying it's true and that's why this is getting bumped

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Ang = The Mexican Kevin Gray Too perfect
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 No he doesn't? Link, pleeeeeaase! Moncada is 19, so he does. Here's an article about the international bonus pool ramifications of Moncada: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/one-big-problem-teams-yoan-moncada/

Here's an article about the international bonus pool ramifications of Moncada: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/one-big-problem-teams-yoan-moncada/ Thanks, Badler's the best, so if he's eligible soon the Jays have no shot.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Here's how it's gonna go for the Jays with respect to the international market... They will spend beyond the cap. They will spend enough that they will be penalized the max amount (and I think you hit the max as soon as you go past 15% of your cap). That said, they will go nowhere near where the Yankees went. I'd be shocked if they can anywhere near $10M... I'm thinking much less. The reason for this is based on the team philosophy which we've seen several times before (Beede, Bickford, etc.), where they play hardball, go to a predetermined amount, and don't really move up much. They will be outbid on a lot of guys that Badler will say that they are in on, and ultimately lose out on. If you're gonna go for it, then go for it like the Yankees did. I don't have much confidence that the Jays will do that. MLB draft and IFA aren't the same thing. With the rumor 3.2 million to Vlad Jr, they surely have gone over their cap when the numbers come out.

imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 It's rare for teams and trainers to back out of verbal deals in latin america right?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 It's rare for teams and trainers to back out of verbal deals in latin america right? Very rare, they'll lose credibility.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Of course they're not the same thing....but the way they evaluate talent and remain steadfast on any offers is. It's the way they handle the draft, the way they handle Free Agency (AA has said they don't make offers...they wait for the agent to tell them what they're looking for, and if it jives, they make an offer at that point), and it's the way they handle IFA. You're getting MLB and IFA business mixed up, once they spend past the cap, they pretty much should go all in. I see no reason why they wouldn't it's a different pool of money for much less, with massive upside. Cheaper than the draft with less risk.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I totally understand the logic...and I agree that going all in is the smart move, but my gut is just telling me that the Jays 'balls deep' isn't going to be what you or I consider 'balls deep'. We'll see...word is they are.
