Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 God the hope the jays just bomb next year so that AA is fired
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I love the question about the bench. Can't believe they wasted a bench spot on Thole all f***ing season long and only used him when Dickey started.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Well, I'm now even more convinced than I already was that a lot of resources are going to be pumped into the bullpen this offseason.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Holy s*** is he ever fat. Just waddled away from the press conference.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Lol at the thought of Mike Wilner asking "Why (insert anything)"
immature Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Jose Reyes is going to play ss everyday (except for a few days off which will make him a much better fielder). Payroll not available. Bench not a priority. Jays are not going to make playoffs. Jesus without those N.Y and Miami trades are future would looks so good right now too.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I'm assuming it was mostly the same BS he spews just with some additions ie the date, the names of a few players who he thinks did well or somehow is convinced will be All Stars after a few weeks of success, thinks the team is a WS contender as is and will work on fine tuning a few things along with if the team is healthy we win without really answering any questions and making the entire event redundant?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 For some reason it seems that much more of a miracle that Gibby wasn't fired, you'd think he would be the ideal scapegoat after this kind of press conference.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 wHY DOES GREGG ZAUN THINK THAT MELKY CABRERA IS A GOOD DEFENDER?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 wHY DOES GREGG ZAUN THINK THAT MELKY CABRERA IS A GOOD DEFENDER? Gregg Zaun doesn't really know anything other than the fundamentals of baseball. He should really bow out when it comes to talking about assembling a baseball team, let alone contract talks.
bill Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 what a windbag said nothing of substance at all. Little direction for this team going forward and missed a rare window with a mostly weak AL east division.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 For some reason it seems that much more of a miracle that Gibby wasn't fired, you'd think he would be the ideal scapegoat after this kind of press conference. That might mean the Jays were at least pretending to punish some kind of failure or hold someone responsible. We know that's not going to happen unless it's really obvious, it's years of failure under the same group of people and only if Gibbons was about to resign anyway or they handed him a check and said take one for the team. you'd think they'd at least come up with some scapegoat other than "injuries" or at least own up to the injuries plus a complete failure to understand a bench needs to be strong all year or at least have better options in the minors to fill in long term should something go wrong like it seems to every year.

If you listen to all the big wigs in the media like Bob McCown ect they all think Gibbons is great and shouldn't be fired. So AA just listens to the overall consensus from these guys.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 "Durability is going to be weighed more than it has" It should have been weighed more since Day 1. Shouldn't take 4 years on the job to figure that out!
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 This thread was fun. LOL. The Jays are always good for a laugh.
bill Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 what a shame this team doesn't have some real quality leadership. AA just seems lost.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Holy f***, reading cliffs, that presser was horrifying. Sounds like AA will do the exact opposite of what he should be doing this offseason. We can only hope this will last only one more year. No way the team ever does s*** with this knob jockey steering the ship.

guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 what i understood from this: - bullpen overload next year - navarro is staying - durability is now important - reyes is gonna rest more and eat his wheaties - the rotation isn't changing - they're open to signing a 2b/3b the last thing is the most promising to me, so sick of scrubs like francisco and valencia playing every day
kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 What did people think he was going to say. Of course he is going to blame the injuries and the bull pen. Do people think he was going to admit he went into the season with NO bench, a no bat 2nd baseman , NO positional depth , an injury prone lineup, a proven defensive liability behind the dish, and no f***ing money from ownership to spend. These were all the holes everyone was pointing out at the start of the season. While most here think he is really stupid I don't believe he is so stupid as to admit this was the reason the Jays are an 83 win team.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Wtf is with the Kawasaki question. Loved by 90% of fans.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 This team completely botched on Aroldis Chapman. To no surprise! Because the Jays didn't get him?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 What would you prefer him to say? People need to be aware he's catering to the losers that attend the RC on a regular basis and most of what he says should be stripped down.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I still see Happ moving back to the pen if Sanchez can dominate as a starter in Spring Training. Maybe even Norris. I will be irate if both Buehrle and Dickey are still on the team next year....one has to go
bill Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Agree completely He will get at least one more year because the media has already decided that they promised AA 3 years after his big trades that haven't worked out. As if anything magical is going to happen next year when Rogers likely won't give him much more to spend and the AL east back to normal next year.
