not sure if this has been posted already, but the sporting news is doing an analysis of the different crews in MLB and how they rank compared to their peers.

so far the sportsnet crew is 18 out of 24.

It is a very good analysis of KC crew. but if you click on the different crews ranked at the bottom you can read the Blue Jay analysis.

I like how he mentions "the metric system" after Buck talks about weather in degrees Celsius. Apparently everything that's not measured at an American standard is "the metric system". I've never heard Buck say the pitcher's mound is about 20 meters from the plate.

Buck isn't going anywhere but they should replace Tabby with Joe Siddall

100% agree. Joe has such a great voice and will call out mistakes without being overly negative. I think Buck becomes a lot better with Joe in the booth as well as when he is with Tabby he goes off the rail.

Yep

Tabby is just a smiling goofy yes man for Buck's platitudes/silliness. Siddall would balance him out better.

The review of the KC broadcasts (rated 2nd worst in MLB) is an absolute must read LOL

I've heard some bad ones over the years travelling in the US (or on MLB network), but knowing the Jays so well makes me cringe more often when Buck or Tabby state things that are so blatantly incorrect - how many times can they say Cabrerra is one of the top defensive OF and Bautista is gold glove calibre?? The write ups are very good though

Where are the Brewers broadcasters? Is Wily Peralta still the best pitcher in the big leagues? Hes a legit ace. 15 wins on the season.

they have only reviewed 24 so far. a few more to go

Listening to Dodgers games and Giants games are the best - definitely my top 2. Also, I'm a fan of Bob Brenly in Arizona, he's great.

I use Scully to fall asleep to, but it's intentional because his monotone voice is so uninteresting.

I love the stories and the guy is a legend but his voice and delivery are boring as f***.

Celsius is part of the metric system.

Not defending Buck and Tabler at all, but what's written in the article about the Jays doesn't really reflect why they're so terrible. The guy doesn't mention the inability of Buck to pronounce the names of players on the Jays. Instead, the writer uses the introduction of pitch counts to go off on his own well-rehearsed argument about them, and seems to score them lower simply because they didn't say the exact correct thing according to his beliefs. In that instance, it's just becomes post-modern drivel. He should try and show a little less bias since he's ostensibly a neutral reporter.

Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez of SNY are excellent. I've been watching far more Mets than Jays games this summer, equally frustrating teams but one has infinitely less retarded commentators.

Buck and Pat are not middle of the pack, are you kidding me? These guys are tops.

Did you not listen to the broadcast today? They informed us that when the Jays hit 3 homeruns in the game, they have a very good record, can you believe that?

Then they went on to inform us that when the Jays win EE is hitting well, while in losses he isn't hitting well. Could it possibly be that when the Jays face a poor pitcher, the Jays are more likely to win, and EE is more likely to have better numbers? Nope, it means EE determines if we win or lose.

Without looking at the list, the white sox should be near the bottom. Hawk Harrelson is unbearable.

EDIT: just checked and the whitesox are 12th... Lol

I just hate how he celebrates anytime the white sox make a nice play, but when the opposing team makes a great play he literally just goes silent.

Glad my intuition was correct. Anyone who's played the show knows how hideously awful Rex Hudler is.

He admits all the faults but the White Sox broadcast is so unique that it's really hard to judge it like any other broadcast. For me, as a bad team, I watch a lot of White Sox games simply because I love Hawk. Even with his quirks as hard core old school mentality, I just find him to be a joy to listen to.

This list checks out with me so far. I love the Cubs broadcast, though the Red Sox are a bit low for me (Orsillo and Remy have phenomenal chemistry, and probably the funniest crew out there) and I agree with the Rays write up. Brian Anderson is a fantastic analyst.

This list is ******** IMO.

Michael Kay and David Cone #19? Those guys are top notch.

Harrelson and Stone are the worst I've heard.

Vin Skully is like no other. Doesn't mean he's the best.

Pat and Tabby are much better than #18 . You can disagree all you want but remember the days of Rob Faulds and Jamie Campbell?

I like Rex Hudler in the same way some people enjoy Hawk. He's like a cartoon character.

No TV crews are in tune enough with new philosophies to make insightful analytic comments, so why hold them all to that standard or even hope they try. The commentators are there for comedic relief.

This is my thoughts when evaluating Buck and Tabby too. They make stupid comments and mess up names, but I don't let it bother me. We could do worse.

And it's not like I'd learn anything even if Buck and Pat spent all day reading Fangraphs and Bill James. Let them be goofballs.

however they are not "characters" like Hawk or Hudler. They are idiots
