Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Oh really? And who plays CF? Bautista for all I care. Whatever Colby is adding atm in range is being taken away by his stupidity.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 What's that, 4 of the last 6 batters out on the first pitch? Are they fking insane? EE, Navarro, Reyes, Cabrera
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Totally irrelevant answer to a discussion on the quality of Bautista's D so I am going to assume you are trying to be a smart-ass. you would assume correct. I was only debating one play, not his defense in its entirety, that was so far from routine that it shouldn't have had a discussion.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Bautista for all I care. Whatever Colby is adding atm in range is being taken away by his stupidity. So, Melky, Bautista, and Reimold which might (probably) be the worst starting OF defensively in the last few years when we're 4.5 games out to teach Colby a "lesson" No thanks.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 now that was a dumb play, unlike the bautista play If you are referring to Rasmus' lackadaisical play then I agree it was a dumb play. I have seen this in the past with Gose I believe however in Gose's case he is still learning that you always assume the player is going to tag and to get it to the infield as quickly as possible. Rasmus has been around long enough not to have brain-farts like that. Also, I may have missed the comment where someone insinuated that Bautista's play was dumb. It was not, however, it does not take away from the fact he has been misreading the trajectory on a few balls lately - different kettle of fish.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 How long do you think Molina will continue to catch?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Hutch is doing really well.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Let's score some runs here!

I was going to give this identical response but didn't want to needle him needlessly. I wouldn't go so far with Rasmus' contribution after all, his effort in yesterday win was critical. What I don't understand is the playing into the hands of the shift. He is capable of hitting to the other side and even bunting so why not take what they are giving you. That bunt caught them off-guard, he got on base, was able to steal a base to be in scoring position for the next hitter.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Archer trying to injure himself ??
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 If you were the GM, would you fire the manager?
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I hope some of the other batters were paying attention. EE just sliced 11 pitches onto Archers pitch count. That is by all means a productive out.

That's true, although you could argue as well that a bunt in that situation yesterday, with two strikes and a batter that rarely bunts, wasn't a smart move. The result simply made it look good. He just doesn't look right atm mentally. I'd rather see him clear his head for a few days and be closer to normal through September than have the brain cramps continue.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Archer trying to injure himself ?? The Rays play with some nice intensity - Seems as if their mentality is to win all games. Mistakes and booting the ball around happens to teams at time but it does not seem to happen too often with them. I just love their fighting spirit.

Rasmus has a reputation of spending hours and hours in the batting cage when his teammates are going out for dinner and drinks when he's not playing well to the point where the coaches/management have to tell him to relax. I don't see how benching him for a couple games would be a) productive for the team and productive for Colby.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 HUtch looks like he's doing well so far (just got in for the game).
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 If you were the GM, would you fire the manager? For me, no. We seem to have bad luck with managers, and we have one who actually loves being here. Would I prefer a guy like Maddon? Sure, but I'd prefer some stability if we don't have a clear "upgrade" to obtain. I think Pete Walker has to go though.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 HUtch looks like he's doing well so far (just got in for the game). Dont jinx !
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 A double play, pretty please.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Jeezes, didnt even make the throw.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Jeezes, didnt even make the throw. Ball 4?
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 He's safe. Gibby should protest (sarcasm)
