I for one am shocked that a team led by a whiney ass bitch like Bautista would whine about this and fold up shop.

Yeah what a whiny ass bitch

Glad this team will never have a superstar offensive jagernuat like him again

After Delgado left we had 6 years with one of the weakest middle orders on bsseball

A carossell of the likes of Troy Glaus Vernon Wells old Frank Thomas Alex Rios Lyle Overbay

Prepare for those days again. Since this team doesn't sign free agents and no power bat is really on its way. It will likely be a decade before this team sees a player like Bautista again.

Because clearly Bautista, on pace for a 5+ win season, needs to step up and do something.

I never specifically said that Bautista had to do something. But he is supposed to be the leader of this team. Calling out management to the press, is not the way to do it. If you are happy with his play in right field lately, good for you. I don't think it has been so stellar .

As the leader of this team I fully expect him to call out management

They're 2 games over 0.500 and their run differential is +4. This is not a playoff team.

Their record doesn't mean as much as their proximity to a playoff position. Obviously they're trending the wrong direction, but a hot stretch like they've had a couple of times already this season could conceivably get them back in it.

They won't move him. The talent level on this team is going to erode consistently over the next few years, both because their best players are on the wrong side of 30, and because they're going to hit free agency, and the team will have a hard time replacing them because they aren't inclined to pay even market value on the free agent market and don't have much coming in the upper minors. It starts this year when Janssen, Rasmus, and probably Melky will walk and return just a single comp pick.

Somewhat why I advocated him continuing to blow up the minors to make the playoffs this year (not that anyone said...if 2013 didn't work continuing to increase spending would be their only way out). They got a huge gift with way more wins in May than the talent shows. This is when he should have added to the team (and not waiver moves)...but this is what happens when you have a short sighted GM. He sees a team 14 games over .500 and he assumes that is their true talent.

I get to sit back and say "I was right". You'd think it would get old, but it really doesn't.

We know that the comment didn't come From Bautista. Reyes can't speak well EE has been out and speaking like this isn't Melkys style.

Pretty clear the comment is from one of the pitching leaders. Most like Dickey or Jansenn

Funny how I believe in Cleveland (partially cause I have wagers on them to win) but not the Jays. I still am considering an additional small wager on Cleveland at 66-1 to win AL (Jays are 33-1 for the record0

I'm willing to bet Bautista ask for a trade in the offseason.

Also now that the season is done time to try and trade Janssen and Rasmus if you can. Put Reyes on waivers and hope someone claims him (no one will though).

I think Reyes is an off season trade, however i would dump rasmus to save some cash.

I'd rather watch Gose get in an extra 20 games in cf then watch Rasmus lug around. Waive him and let him go.

I wonder how much Gibby is at fault. If Cito was in charge players would think twice before opening their mouths.

And what did going public with his discontent do for the team?

Maybe they need to stop making excuses. Most of them having been playing poor baseball. Bad defense, poor hitting and bad pitching. None of that has anything to do with the fact that AA didn't improve the team. Last nights game was a prime example. If they have given up on the season, so be it. But lay blame where it belongs. On the ones that have given up.

The front office did enough two offseasons ago, to satisfy the desire to supplement the team over 3 offseasons and 2 trade deadlines.

Some kids, born on December 24, are happy when their parents buy them a car as their dual birthday and Christmas present and present it to them on Decembdr 24 (and for those kids still young enough to believe in Santa ... by "parents" I mean "Santa Clause"). Others bitch and moan that they had nothing to open up on Christmas morning ("mom and dad! you're so mean! it's like I'm half-pregnant!").

That's terrible logic I thought you understood how things work. Every season holes will be revealed throughout the first 4 months, it doesn't matter how much you spend. Nobody was calling for a boost to the bullpen in December but that would have helped.

Of course it has to do with AA not improving the team. Imagine if you work at MacDonald's and you got the message from your employer that he doesn't really care what you do at work

All of a sudden you mix up orders put chicken patties in a big Mac stop mixing coffee etc. Because who cares. The owner doesn't care if the MacDonald's you work at does well.

Start (or continue) the "Trade Bautista" off-season. This "all we have to do is make the playoffs and things will be okay" front office, had no back up plan and now they are better off not touching it rather than trying to fix it.

a couple of amateurs have been tinkering with the motor and now it doesn't run properly... letting them have another shot is just going to make things worse if not completely damage things.

Time to get a professional mechanic under the hood and take a shot at getting things running on all cylinders this winter and get things running right before we have to change the motor.

the jays record after the trade deadline is not because no moves were made - it's because roster players are not performing at their expected level

7 HR in the month. that is fewer than the bum Carter in HOuston has

it may show the mental toughness of the current roster.

I'm all for upgrading 2B or adding a pitcher or two, but not at the expense of giving up young MLB talent like stroman, sanchez etc

come on Bluejays, suck it up and play the game like you can. Stop making excuses

I don't think Reyes is tradable. His defense is horrible and he is an injury machine. The only way a team takes on REyes is if the Jays eat a ton of contract

Dickey and Jansen both should worry about doing their jobs. Both guys are not performing well and would be replaced on a competitive playoff team

They should be able to get a huge haul for Bautista and Edwin, right? I mean, would the Red Sox give up Betts, Henry, and Swihart for one of them? Would the Cardinals give up Taveras and Martinez for one of them? How about Syndergaard and others? If so, do it. It beats hoping a .500 team can overachieve.

First thing this offseason.......the old age club needs to go. Bautista and Jansenn need to be traded.

Give me a summary of what Janssen said please.

Yes, it might be a good time to remind people of what Bautista actually said. Not a good time to remind people of what KingKat wants us to believe he actually said ... but a good time to remind people of what Bautista ACTUALLY actually said ...

“Of course it’s a little disappointing that we somehow weren’t able to get anything done, but everybody around us that’s in contention . . . somehow figured it out,” Bautista said.

“We’re in a position where we’re in striking distance with not many games left and we could’ve used a little boost, just like some of the other teams went out and got some additions,” Bautista said. “It’s not that you don’t feel your team is good enough, it’s just that everybody does that at the deadline, figures out a way to improve the roster. We just somehow didn’t.”

That is clearly mocking the front office. Everyone else does it all the time, but we SOMEHOW didn't.

If you want to read mockery into it feel free but don't act like that's not what you're doing. Just because it's in the Moogy playbook to use the word "clearly" doesn't make it retroactively so.

O man i would love Betts, our everyday second baseman.

Well if you meant by that that they basically spent all their payroll space and a good chunk of prospect capital in one swoop, you're absolutely right but if the Jays thought that it would actually work and that there would be no other holes that would require further investment down the road, that's a serious problem. There was a lot of talk on the old board about this and a lot of people felt like if this was a unique opportunity to go all in than AA had basically blown it.

Dominicans sure are pulling their weight (minus that turd Juan)

do you know how tough it is to have a -40 wRC like he's done in 39 August PA's?
