Spoonovic Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Thole is obviously a requirement.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Gose, Reimold, Valencia, Thole. Francisco starts at 3rd base and Lawrie at 2nd.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Kawa/Valencia/Reimold/Gose but it wouldn't surprise me if they kept Tolleson and went with a 6 man pen. Sorry for Goins he's looked good lately but I think he's the odd man out. You still need Thole. I agree about the 6man pen. You have Goins for September and use him as a defensive replacement.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 A lot of s*** was talked about AA's ability to build depth. I think our bench is a team strength.

I deleted my post cause I forgot about Thole lol. Valencia and Reimold are locks to stay. Outside of that you're probably keeping Gose and maybe one other guy if you go with a 6 man pen. I would probably keep Kawa over Tolleson given that they have Valencia now but it's a hard call.
itsawrap Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Gose, Reimold, Valencia, Thole. Francisco starts at 3rd base and Lawrie at 2nd. This! Goins has been spectacular with both the bat and the glove lately but these 4 would benefit us the most. Gonna miss Kawa as well.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Depth extends beyond the bench. True, but our bench is overflowing and we still got guys in the minors, not much but some. Now, our starting pitching depth is an area that scares me.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 With Valencia/Francisco now covering 3rd, will Lawrie be our everyday 2nd baseman? I wonder how they'll handle the 3rd/2nd situation

I wonder how they'll handle the 3rd/2nd situation That was my thought as well. They saw Lawrie is taking grounders at 3rd but it seems like he is going to be playing 2nd based on the roster construction. Only way I see Lawrie at 3rd is if they keep Goins or Kawasaki at 2nd instead of Francisco at 3rd vs RHP. I think Francisco stays but it probably is a battle between all of them until Lawrie and Lind come back.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 6 man pen tolleson, kawa, thole, valencia, pillar Rasmuus will be waiver wired and gose will get the job.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 6 man pen tolleson, kawa, thole, valencia, pillar Rasmuus will be waiver wired and gose will get the job. You would rather have Pillar in the lineup than Rasmus? Id like to have whatever you are smoking lol.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Gose, Reimold, Valencia, Thole. Francisco starts at 3rd base and Lawrie at 2nd. This We've been really fortunate that Goins and Kawasaki have been playing really well while the others have been hurt.
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Gose, Reimold, Valencia, Thole. Francisco starts at 3rd base and Lawrie at 2nd. This is our best option but who backs up the middle inf?
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 This is our best option but who backs up the middle inf? Good point, would have to go with Gose, Reimold, Valencia, Thole, Goins/Kawasaki
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 This is our best option but who backs up the middle inf? Well the option is you go down to a 6 man pen or you keep Tolleson over Valencia but I really doubt that happens considering they just traded for him. Other option is you keep Goins/Kawasaki instead of Francisco which could be an option if Francisco stops hitting RHs. No matter what they do they will not have a backup at an up the middle position with a 4 man bench and keeping Francisco. (Gose, Goins/Kawasaki) The Big If is that everyone is healthy and I am not sure you see this team 100% healthy position player wise for the rest of the season.
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 If you are going to have Lawrie at 2nd than you need someone on the bench who can back him up there. I also don't like the idea of a 6 man pen so because of all that I would have: Kawasaki, Thole, Valencia, Reimold
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 You would rather have Pillar in the lineup than Rasmus? Id like to have whatever you are smoking lol. Against lefties yeah

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Against lefties yeah Pillar over Rasmus and Reimold would just be terrible roster management and if you thought today was a bad message to the clubhouse that lineup construction would have players even more upset.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Did i hear it right when they said that E.E could possibly be ready for a minor league games by monday? That would be a pleasant surprise if right.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 This is a tough question really. On a 4 man bench we need a backup C (Thole), a backup CF (Gose), and a backup MIF. This leaves you room for two platoon bats. I think Reimold is a nice platoon bat (for Lind) / bat off the bench. He get the spot for me. I don't see how you avoid loosing Francisco and maybe even Valencia (which won't happen). The only way you can not loose one or both of those guys is leave your team with no backup at CF of MIF. If one of those guys gets hurt, you play out that game and move a move for the next game. Its not ideal, but it might have to happen. For what its worth my bench is; Thole, Reimold, Tolleson, and Valencia (just because I know he won't be sent down). Starting Roster is; Reyes, Cabrera, Bautista, Lind, EE, Navarro, Lawrie, Rasmus, Goins or Kawa Sent down; Francisco, Gose, Goins or Kawa

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Source? Just heard it on the broadcast last night that why i wanted some confirmation
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Sept roster expansion cannot come fast enough. Yeah I think given the use of all of our various platoons that may help us more than other teams.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Just heard it on the broadcast last night that why i wanted some confirmation I think it's Lawrie that starts his rehab.
