The others: Atlanta and Kansas City, although the Royals could be able to add payroll if it's a starting pitcher they could plug into James Shields' spot in the rotation next year." Rogers is a joke.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 To be fair, it was on MLB trade rumours. They are usually pretty reliable. Have you or anyone heard from fatcow? You making again tonight?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 merged Lester to Os thread into this one.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 No one cares about you're run differential bro, what's your fWAR?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 O's are going to do what i was hoping the Jays wouldn't do..... Gausman + Bundy meaning Red Sox pitching will be dominant for the next handful of years.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 merged Lester to Os thread into this one. Thanks. Besides, a deal isn't close, and is unlikely to happen now because Boston is demanding Gausman or Bundy in the deal.. that's as bad an idea as trading Stroman or Sanchez or Norris. FYI, the corresponding move for Workman is Felix Doubront, who was dealt to the Cubs for a PTBNL.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Tyson Ross, Denorfia and Benoit (f*** no) in 3...2...1
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Pete AbrahamVerified account @PeteAbe Told #RedSox in advanced talks with #Orioles regarding Lester but do have alternatives. Expect Lester to be traded elsewhere.. O's will NOT give up top prospects in any deal.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I doubt that the Red Sox receive Gausman + Bundy for half a season of Lester. That would be nuts. Who else would they be targeting as their top 2 prospects Bundy+Walker which would still be down right stupid.

Unfortunately I don't remember seeing a recent rumour go this far involving the O's that didn't get done. Norris, Cruz, Jimenez all came to fruition.......praying this falls apart though.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I think a trade with the orioles would be something more like Lester + Uehara for Gausman OR Bundy
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 When the mystery team rumors start to pop up, it's not actually a mystery team but a phase where the Red Sox want to put pressure on the other team to up their ante.

The famous mystery club bidding war where one team outbids themself.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 MYSTERY TEAM! cf Guess that means Lester's going elsewhere.. can't see the O's mortgaging the farm for 2 months of Lester.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I love the Mystery team from Parts unknown......
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 MYSTERY TEAM! cf Does Lester have Boris as his agent?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I don't think the Blue Jays make a significant move if they don't by tomorrow. With the budget restraints August trading is going to be almost impossible. The Blue Jays can't afford to claim any players because in the event the team gave away that claimed player, the Blue Jays would not be able to afford that player. Unless Rogers gives AA the go ahead to add 4 million in August this team isn't making any significant moves.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 In other O's news they sent Ubaldo Jimenez to Aberdeen (NYP) for a rehab assignment today.
leaffie Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 O's being reported as getting lester
leaffie Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I wonder if the Yankee's could be the "mystery team". Why not blow their wad in Jeter's last year before the team is completely sunk by the albatross contracts they are locked into for the foreseeable future. Red sox said they would trade to Jays or O's but not Yankees
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Dan ConnollyVerified account @danconnollysun Still hearing there's nothing hot on Lester and Orioles at all. Told by some it absolutely won't happen. Guess we'll know for sure in a day Looks like he's going elsewhere.. besides, why would Boston trade in division?

To weaken the Orioles for the next 6 years? Honestly, I am starting to think it is a better idea to trade within the division of you are selling a rental. You weaken your opponent for the future.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Dealing within the division is ideal if you think you're winning the trade. You're taking value from your closest rivals. Of course, if you're wrong and you lose the trade, you're f***ed.

Ya why would they want to weaken at team for the future for 2 months of a pitcher in a year that you are not going to be contending..... What a bunch of dumb *******s

GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 But say even if the Orioles prospects don't work out and Lester signs somewhere else in the offseason, what do you lose? Oh, my apologies, I was just speaking in a general sense. In this situation, yeah. Or, he could resign with the Orioles. That's a possibility that you have to be aware of. Granted, that's slim to none, which would make Gausman/Lester a great trade for them. Quite frankly, I'd rather they not. The Red Sox are a bigger threat than the O's. We don't need them getting any more help.
