Jim Bowden comments on the needs of each team:

He suggests the Jays should go after Benoit and trade Labourt & Tirado

Continues to make the Nationals owners look smart for firing him.

Dumb splits, too small sample.

Colby previous 3 years

Runners on : .794 OPS

Scoring position: .846

Based jacked: .910

Call the splits dumb all you want, but they gotta be telling you something.

In fact, during this "previous 3 year" sample that you arbitrarily decided to pick, Colby's OBP was a combined .306....It's just not that great at the end of the day when you've got a guy like Gose who is a much cheaper option than Rasmus, and has a higher propensity to get on base... Not to mention the team's winning % is much higher when Gose plays. I'd sacrifice the odd home run if it meant we're keeping rallies going and staying on the base paths.

Be thankful Greg Zaun has no control over the Blue Jays Franchise. Said he would trade Stroman for Jon Lester if Jon Lester signed a 1 year extension. First of all there is no chance Lester would agree to an extension of 1-3 years... Then he proceeded to say he would give them the choice of Stroman or Sanchez making them sound equally as valuable which is clearly not the case.

I think Stroman would be the guy that you would not want to face in your division for the next 6 years as he is a guy that is going to have that extra motivation if that ever happened. Thankfully the Front Office isn't this stupid...

3 year platoon splits are arbitrary but single year splits aren't?

Wow

The single year is this year though, I didn't choose the arbitrary life, the arbitrary life chose me! It's not like I'm just picking a random season (or three).

Single year platoon splits mean nothing. Completely, wonderfully nothing.

The Jays have played 108 games, Colby's played in 70, missed 38 games total...33 of which are from being on the DL. Those aren't single year platoon splits, they're just single year splits. It would be platoon splits if he was splitting time with someone else while still healthy.

Is it assumed that if we are looking for a starter we're going to replace Happ? Who else would it be?

Happ would be the immediate man out with the potential to come back if one of the youngsters hit a wall - my assumption anyways. But I would be surprised if we got any starter

Single year situational splits do not mean anything. Single year platoon splits do not mean anything. Less than at least 1000 PA does not have predictive value.

If Jays can't take on salary, then I don't know what type of "top of the rotation guy" they would be looking at.

If they miraculously can, then I would suggest going after Colon or Hammels. f*** it, if we want to make it to the playoffs, it's now or never.

Isn't he still on the DL? He's having a bad season, no lock that he's going to do well. Bad knee, too.

Don't worry the best fans in baseball well will him to come back and have a Chris Carpenter type of season

Lee with Amaro eating a bunch of salary.

There is a bunch of people out there that believe that Amaro has to deal these big names and they are just waiting for him to fold on some of his asking prices.

The guy should be fired either way. He's been so awfully stubborn the past few years and my god, those contracts he put together are horrendous.

Hammels > Lee right now. Lee doesn't seem sharp since his return. Too risky

Cole HAMELS

Jason HAMMEL

Your posts are confusing me lol

Might be good risky though, especially if we take on salary in lieu of offering useful pieces and the risk is mostly financial.

My prediction? AA's MO the last three years has been a long con and he's magnificently despaired the entire baseball world into thinking he's out of his depth; just in time to ninja his way into the most awe inspiring trade deadline the baseball world has ever seen.

I have to admit I am loving the idea of trading for Lackey and then offer to renegotiate that last year of his contract for say something like a 3 year deal for $8 mil a year with the 3rd year being a team option. Then we could move forward by building around a Dickey-Lackey rotation costing $20 million while plugging in the rookies around them.

As much as this might make sense (though fairly unrealistic) I would hate to have to cheer for that douchebag. Guy is a class A prick

I just hope he does a trade. Not getting anyone = no chance to win the AL pennant.
