He admitted he was trolling. This classifies as legitimate discussion?

Honestly you were being a little douchey and pompous GD. I mean my troll wasn't even that bad, it was pretty lighthearted in overhyping JDL and downplaying Hutch. It wasn't even that sinister and I came clean halfway through as we started discussing the merits of a serious trade and the abilities of the pitchers until you got all uppity.

If JDLR is an ace then R.A. Dickey is also an ace.

Dickey definitely was an ace in NY, I don't know what happened to him here..

I wasn't particularly uppity. But if you're here to encourage objective discussion, why troll at all? And I think it's widely accepted that W/L isn't a great measure of ability and that consistency and playoff appearances aren't a useful barometer of value but if you don't believe that we're welcome to discuss that, it's just that it's been rehashed like a thousand times and isn't really objective discussion. And you just posted that the O's wanted him and that the Rockies asked for Gausman. No link? I find that hard to believe.

I dunno. Just saying you want discussion and then trolling, even lightly trolling (I'm not freaking out and labelling you Dogg or anything, by no means were you sinister) seems disingenuous to me is all.

No. Hutch should be a big part of this rotation for the next several years. We can live with Romero's contract for one more year.

This is a front office that I believe has a "What have you done for me lately" player assessment style. They don't want to include Sanchez in any deals, cannot include Stroman, Norris is likely off limits. So Hutch might be an asset that might not help that much this year that is offered up.

The word I had was that Pompey was in all and any discussions, Sanchez was off limits 100%...then recently was mentioned as might be available. Stroman has been in discussions and recently said to be untouchable.

Re- Trolling or Lightly Trolling. Like I said fair enough and I probably won't make that mistake again here gauging on how this conversation evolved. And you definitely were being douchey and pompous at times but no worries I didn't really take offense to it, for the most part we had some decent exchanges. I get your W/L disdain and I'm with you, I think you misconstrued the context I used it in when I brought it up. I'm also in agreement when it comes to statistics for a proper barometer, etc. As for the Gausman link here it is so I hope that clears everything up now.

It just doesn't make sense to take Stroman out of the rotation in a trade. If you get a pitcher back, you still have Happ throwing every 5th day, which is exactly what you're trying to stop by trading for an arm. Add to that the much smaller difference in gains from Stroman to pitcherX, when compared to the larger gains from Happ to pitcher X and it just makes zero sense.

Ah, Heyman reporting. This makes sense now. lol

I just feel like we need a bit more help than JDLR can offer.

how is Pompey so untouchable? It's nice that he's Canadian, but he's played 23 games at AA. Travis snider was a far more highly rated prospect than Pompey and he didn't work out. Pompey is a nice player, but I wouldn't call him untouchable.

All that says is that the Rockies like him. Not necessarily that he'll be going for Jorge.

O's won't be giving him up, that's why this trade hasn't happened yet. It's essentially saying the same thing as the other article- O's want JDL and Rockies want Gausman but he's off limits and they won't cough him up.

I'm not saying he necessarily SHOULD be untouchable, lol.

The cost of any player that could improve this rotation is going to be so damn high I'm not sure I'm willing to pay it . Crazy to move a Sanchez and no way they even think of moving Stroman . Hutch has had his struggles but he is young ,and s*** like that happens. It will piss me off if we move a key asset with all these guys coming back off the DL.

Exactly my line of thinking. Should target a 2B or 3B instead for low level prospects

Where was this heard from?

The A.L. East happened to him.

note to Jays ,try to pick up players/pitchers with A.L. East experience, because it takes a year before you can have a good read on how to pitch in The A.L. East.

Does anyone have a Dickey start-by-start breakdown for 2013-2014? I'm not saying this line of thinking is wrong, but I'm also curious if the East is what's cost him his effectiveness or if it's just across the board (i.e., he's over the hill, which was and is a legit criticism of the deal to get him).

Why, we have Reimold for that? He's back in a week. I'm all in on 1, if we were to make a significant upgrade at 2nd, I hope it's a young fekker for the future like Franklin...:P Yet, I digress, option 1_ FTW!!!

Denorfia has more pronounced splits so for a team struggling against lefties he may have more appeal than Reimold. Also, Denorfia can play CF (albeit not that well) and Reimold can't. If Reimold is on the team then you are looking at Bautista getting time in CF.

Denorfia is what we wanted Pillar to be.

I still really like Barnes. He inexplicably isn't hitting lefties this year (but doing much better against righties). He's been moved to the bench in Colorado and they have a similar player in Stubbs, he'll be available for a low level guy. A Barnes/Gose platoon would be ugly at the plate but at least they would be acceptable in pure platoon.

Yeah as far as cheaper options go he would be a decent guy to target. He lives in my building I'll mention it to him if you want. :P

Fair enough, if we were to go that route, I'd rather we get Mayberry Jr, IMO.

Yeah that's a good suggestion I hadn't thought of. He's probably barely better than Bautista in CF but that dude crushes left handed pitching.

He can't really change much but doesn't hurt to drop my name and say that I recommend he be a Jay. Is he slumming or are you living the life pre-partner?

Haha well it's a nice building although nothing spectacular. But it's right next door to Coors Field so a lot of the lesser paid players live in the nice apartment buildings near the field. The well paid stars all buy houses in a ritzy area called Cherry Creek.

I've gone out for drinks with Ryan Wheeler before but since he was sent back to Colorado Springs I haven't talked to him in a while. I have heard of several of them living in my building or in others that are really close but I have probably walked right past some of them. Barnes is easily identifiable bc of the tats.
