Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Gose 3 stolen bases, 2 caught stealing
theblujay Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 The smaller the sample, the more you need to pay attention to peripheral indicators like xFIP. A single start is exactly the opportunity to use it. With just a single game sample luck can play much too large of a role to look at the stats like xFIP which don't really take into account what actually happened. We saw this with those terrible Santos implosions.
Unis Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Hush your mouth he does have potential with the speed but I just don't trust his bat enough
Jaysfan_85 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Gose gets on base. something Colby can't do I'll take 20+ hrs and potentially 800 OPS than the next to no offense Gose provides.
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 he does have potential with the speed but I just don't trust his bat enough UGH me to but i still have faith that he can put it together over a full season or at least 130 games played
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Tampa loses again. Afternoon game?
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I'll take 20+ hrs and potentially 800 OPS than the next to no offense Gose provides. Rasmus is a black hole who is so streaky and strikes out more then a drunk mormon on halloween
Unis Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I'll take 20+ hrs and potentially 800 OPS than the next to no offense Gose provides. Ditto
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Gose just needs more experience and pick his spots better. With the lead off man up and 1 out with a lefty on the mound, it's just not a smart time to try and steal. He'll learn. The positive sign was this time he hit on base rather than chase s***** pitches and striking out like earlier in the game in almost the same situation.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Rasmus is a black hole who is so streaky and strikes out more then a drunk mormon on halloween Not sure what Halloween has to do with it, but it was a nice effort up to that point.
Unis Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Rasmus is a black hole who is so streaky and strikes out more then a drunk mormon on halloween Goes can start in 2015.... Not this year. Colby is >>>> choice
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Not sure what Halloween has to do with it, but it was a nice effort up to that point. Mormons have this thing about halloween i dont get it either but i know some mormons and they nm lol
Jaysfan_85 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Rasmus is a black hole who is so streaky and strikes out more then a drunk mormon on halloween Streaky guy with a 800 OPS versus a guy who can't hit at all. Yeah seems like a close call.
Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Even if you aren't SABR-supportive, the guy threw 5.1 innings against the Minnesota Twins and left with the bases loaded. That is not acceptable. The thing is, it's the same thing repeating itself over and over again. His last 10 starts, he's pitched 7 innings once and that's both glaring and telling. Had A WHIP over 2 against Detroit in his last start and same for the one before against a weak hitting team like K.C. In night games this year, it's at 1.57 with opponents batting .270 against him. Lucky to win at all with those numbers.
theblujay Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 The smaller the sample, the more you need to pay attention to peripheral indicators like xFIP. A single start is exactly the opportunity to use it. Like if I'm looking at a single game the most important thing is if we win or not. I'm much more concerned with how well the pitcher actually did at preventing runs, than how many runs their flyballs, Ks and BBs should have resulted in. Over a couple games its obviously a much better indicator of how the pitcher has been doing.
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Goes can start in 2015.... Not this year. Colby is >>>> choice Agreed Gose should start next year at CF but knowing AA he will resign Colby for $14 a year
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Streaky guy with a 800 OPS versus a guy who can't hit at all. Yeah seems like a close call. enough with these advanced stats ... SO,SB,BB Hits all i care about
Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Lead off walk in the eighth inning, i just don't get that.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 C'mon Loup, just get it to Janssen.
Jaysfan_85 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Why not use Janssen against their best hitters? Oh yeah because closers have to pitch in the 9th!!!
