ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 http://sbb.scout.com/2/1409043.html 9. Blue Jays - Jeff Hoffman I had the Blue Jays on Hoffman since the day he came down with the elbow injury that prevented him from going in the top 4, as everyone thought he would, if healthy. The bonus should be $2.5-3.0 million, so I split the difference on the projection. If he was healthy, I may have made Hoffman my top player in the draft and he would've been in the top 3 easily. This is an Adam Waiwright or Justin Verlander type prospect and Tommy John surgery has over an 80% success rate. Great pick. Here is Hoffman's scouting report and video. Draft Pick Allotment: $3.08 million Projected Bonus: $2.90 million 11. Blue Jays - Max Pentecost Pentecost was a personal favorite that the Blue Jays got on heavy in the past week or two, sending most of their draft room to his regional in Tallahassee. He's a great value here and I think he's going to be an above average regular. Here is Pentecost's scouting report and video. Draft Pick Allotment: $2.88 million Projected Bonus: $2.81 million
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Someone start the "2015 MLB Draft: An Early Look" thread! I'm eligible next time around! King, do you actually know these players before they're picked, or are you just reciting what you see on Twitter, MLB.com?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Someone start the "2015 MLB Draft: An Early Look" thread! I posted something a few months back in the other thread. I'll dig it up after the draft concludes.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Awesome. That probably concludes the best draft for us in a long time.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Even if these guys bust, which most of them will, the process is what's important, and the process was incredible here.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Todd Isaacs (2014 OF, Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team) - Isaacs stood out on an all-prospect team that was highlighted by one of the highest ceiling players in the class (Jacob Gatewood). He slashed line drives and hard ground balls evenly between the pullside, opposite field and up the middle. His impressive spray chart from his .500/.533/.500 showing is impressive in it's even distribution, even putting down perfect bunts for hits down each baseline. His carrying tool is his speed and as a present burner he should be able to chew up acres of real estate centerfield. His slash and run skillset is a good fit for his center field profile and his solid arm strength is an added bonus there.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Deichmann pls There is like 1% chance we sign these guys haha
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Todd Isaacs Jr 6.15s in 60 yards waooo

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 May as well just sign all these guys .... Even if it means giving up the last pick in the first round next year!!!!!!!! How far over can we go to only lose the one pick???? Im kinda surprised it hasn't been tried yet. I know the Yanks are going to do something similar with the IFA's this year.

I think 10%, after that you lose 2nd round pick.

From SB Nation: Teams are allowed to go over their total bonus pool allotment, but even going over by small amounts incur harsh penalties. If a team exceeds their budget by between 0-5 percent, they are taxed 75 percent on the amount they went over. If they exceed the budget by 5-10 percent, they suffer the same penalty as 0-5 percent plus they lose their first-round selection in the following draft. Going over by 10-15 percent incurs a 100 percent tax on the overage, plus the loss of first- and second-round picks in the following draft. Anything over 15 percent results in the team paying a 100 percent tax on the overage and the loss of their first-round selection for the next two drafts.
