burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 What do you guys think of Josh Willingham? Long-term he may not be a good option, but if Edwin is out for an extended period of time he may be a good buy low opportunity. Shift Melky to RF, Willingham to LF, and Bautista to 3B/1B I was thinking the same thing the other day. Great bat, mashes lefties. I wonder what the cost would be. Also apparently Bautista said he is up for playing whatever position the team needs be it 3B or 1B.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Willingham is good He's pretty cheap too. Don't really know what the Twins intentions are though. They did sign Morales not that long ago.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Kennedy + Headley + Denorfia here we go.

Just like last time. lol
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Yeah. He says he's wiling to play 3rd but then will bitch about it once we move him there. Just like last time. lol Bitch about what? Im not sure the blue jays would want to move him there anyway considering at 3rd base is probably going to make him more injury prone.

Im not sure the blue jays would want to move him there anyway considering at 3rd base is probably going to make him more injury prone. The last time we moved him from RF to 3rd base temporarily he came out and said "whatever is best for the team" and then constantly brought up the fact once moved that he would be better suited playing RF....over and over and over again to the media.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I just hope AA hasn't painted himself into a corner where he ends up getting bent over again.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I'm sure AA has some balls in the air....funny thing they seem to be gravity-defying balls since they never seem to come down.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 f*** it let's get it done Price and Zobrist for Snachez, Norris and Pompey.
Comx Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 f*** it let's get it done Price and Zobrist for Snachez, Norris and Pompey. Never gonna happen Damn would be sweet though.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 I won't be surprised at all if AA ends up trading for somebody that hasn't been mentioned a single time from anyone.
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 ^ I wouldn't be surprised of he doesn't end up making a trade at all
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 that's my sense too TL...and probably someone like Navarro - low cost & potential for a little upside but nothing spectacular...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Wow. People actually believe this club will add someone by anything other than waiver claims or minor league deals? You guys have more faith than me.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Phillies AAA team just face palmed. The Phillies have agreed to a minor league deal with Jo-Jo Reyes, reports MLBTR’s Zach Links (via Twitter). The 29-year-old lefty has seen time in parts of five MLB seasons, the last of which came in 2011. He owns a 6.05 career ERA with 5.8 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9 through 334 2/3 innings, mostly as a starter. Reyes has been playing in Korea since the start of the 2013 season.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Redsox might move Stephen drew Just saying we need an infielder Kawasaki has been providing more value this year than him 0.2 compared to -0.3 To be fair of course, Drew was pretty good last year..
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 All of these numbers are absolutely terrible. There must be someone - anyone - who's better than him. Pretty sure he set the record for most consecutive starts without a win when he was a Jay, 27 games in a row dating back several years.
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Drew might be a very low cost option if the Red Sox give him up...insurance for Reyes if he gets hurt down the stretch...
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Kawasaki has been providing more value this year than him 0.2 compared to -0.3 To be fair of course, Drew was pretty good last year.. well that cant be too large of a sample size this year. I haven't looked at his numbers, and I know that he hits righties much better than he hits lefties. At the same time, It might not cost much. Sox might just do it to move money, which comes to 6-7 Mil. Not bad might not require any major prospeects
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I think the bosox, if they move him, would do so for a pylon...I think the red sox/Drew relationship has or is reaching its end...
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I think the bosox, if they move him, would do so for a pylon...I think the red sox/Drew relationship has or is reaching its end... yep, and why wouldn't the Redsox want to stick it to the yankees Its not like Drew will be part of the Jays past this year, so why not deal with the Jays. The only question is whether AA is actually looking for a real replacement for these issues, or still surfing the waiver wire
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 It seems pretty clear now that help, if it arrives will be after the all star break and not before. Which is slightly disappointing, given the importance of these upcoming games.

Last night's game gave AA some breathing room & a win tonight/O's loss tonight gives even more leverage to deal ie. not be completely desperate...

Then you have to be willing to part with top prospects Cant have both. People here want impact pieces, but dont trade any prospects Drew is available at low cost, thats the reason I mentioned it as a viable option

Trade em for the right pieces and count me in! But to me thinking about someone like Drew who has been absolutely pathetic this year would be a pointless exercise. We don't have the time to wait for him to try to turn it around.
