The Red Sox have good rotation depth but they'll definitely need to add some guys. I could totally see Lester/Masterson coming back as throwback signings though.

Red Sox are a top 10 team this year and with all those young players and pitchers, they'll be a top 5 team for the next decade. Imagine if they add 1 or 2 Lester type starters....scary!

Why would they go for Castillo? They've got Victorino, JBJ, Betts, Yoenis, Craig, Nava and others as potential OF options. I think they'd rather use the money on pitching.

O's lose 6-3.

We should win sunday with strohman, and Sea has Hisashi Iwakuma sunday.

Washington is in a dogfight with the braves,so lets hope o,s lose 2 in a row,and we win 1.

We're still going to be about 1.5 to 2 games ahead even with this loss.

And we're lucky that the Tigers are facing the Yankees this week, and the Mariners get the Braves. We just need to beat the O's.

Funny how certain posters don't bash the O's any more...maybe they're just ignoring their success because it reminds them of how f***ing wrong they were about them.

Navarro:

He said he knows how anxious Jays fans are to end the franchise’s 20-year playoff drought. He wants it just as badly.

“I play for the playoffs, man,” he said. “I play for the extra month that you don’t get paid, I play for the extra month that you don’t spend with your family, I play for the extra month that I miss fishing. You want to be there. That’s where players make their names, that’s where players become famous. That’s where players find out what they’re made of.”

Yikes, that reads like he doesn't want to make the playoffs. He'd rather be home hanging with his family and fishing, 'cause he ain't getting paid.

And, for the record, they do get paid. They get postseason shares depending on how far they advance and how they vote to distribute it amongst themselves (and how much revenue is generated by the games), but they still get cash. Last year, just for playing in, and losing 1 game, the Injuns and Reds got an extra $15K each, and the Sox got over $300K each for winning the WS.

So navarro doesnt know s*** either.

Someone should tell him about the pay thing.

Make it 3-0 Red Sox. Phelps won't last long at this rate.

What based on this season makes you feel he will be a star. He has the talent but does he have the heart.

The "heart" talk of a baseball player is such BS. He has such great talent for a SS and is pretty patient at the plate. He is just adjusting to the MLB. He may not be a superstar but he should become a 4 WAR SS and def not "a guy"

Yankees will get back in this ball game. Big double play. Xander Bogaerts went from a "Mega prospect" to just a guy pretty fast. Kid is butcher though probably should be playing the outfield.

I dunno but I like his name, very original. It's Dutch if I'm not mistaken. Well, that was it for my off topic post lol

No, the "heart" talk is actually pretty real. You can see it. Some players really don't give a f***. They just want to get paid and that's it. Other players like to win and play with heart.

And the Yanks just tied it. Buchholz has apparently gotten the same problem as Ricky Romero and Brandon Morrow.

Who is saying that Bogaerts doesn't have the heart to succeed?

Not sure I've heard such concerns about him before.

If the Red Sox decide to cut ties with this guy. I know the Blue Jays will be first in line.

lol

Well first off hes not a shortstop. We already know that. And the heart talk is not ********. You have to want it. And you have to work for it. That's why see guys who don't have anywhere the same athletic abbility or natural talent have success because they have more heart and out work everyone. It does matter.

There is a difference between heart and work ethic. If you have a bad work ethic you will obviously be less successful but you need to have talent to succeed. He hasn't had the greatest defensive season but his reports in the minors all thought he was a capable SS.

What exactly is the difference? I don't understand your point.

If Bogaerts has talent and work ethic but not heart he'll bust?

Heart is like motor. Running out every grounder, diving for every ball.

Work ethic is just the willingness to put in the work to improve your game and hone your craft.

They're separate terms, but you'd think they're pretty closely related.

I am a huge believer in Bogaerts and think he will become a very good player. Work ethic is coming to the ballpark early, working to improve your game whenever you can, training in the offseason.

Heart I think is an overrated term but probably means diving for balls, having "clutch" hits. I think the media gives players that term more than anyone.
