CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Sad to see this Red Sox and Yankee game not have more meaning. These are the 2 teams you really want to see battle it out for the pennant. They don't really have a rivalry going on anymore. In the past 20 years, I think the peak of their rivalry was in 2003-2004 and escalated with that Varitek vs Arod scuffle. Now you see players of both teams smiling and talking to each other... something that was kind of rare to see 10 years ago.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Xander Bogaerts needs to be more like David Eckstein.

Rivalries are just some BS used to sell tickets, increase ratings, and make headlines. They are like unicorns in that they don't exist.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Xander Bogaerts doesn't like baseball?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Exactly. That guy was a winner. World Series MVP. Just a guy who isn't flashy and gets the job done. Hi there Joe Morgan.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 And we have gone full troll. Goodnight, gents.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Confession: I f***ing loved watching David Eckstein play baseball.

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Sportsmanship ruined baseball. If they brought back throwing at heads and racism it would spice things up again. LMAO, not politically correct, but clever post.

havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Breaking: Jonn hired as Diamondbacks new manager. Dbacks organizational philosophy is to acquire "grit first guys" and to get rid of guys with talent who hate baseball. Successful franchise over there in Arizona.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Buchholz just got the game tied up again.. 7-7. 5 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 5 BB, 4Ks, 6.22 ERA. How did this guy go from an ace to near Ricky Romero status?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Esmil Rogers now in the game for the Yankees.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Wonder if Brett Gardner is taking the same stuff Ellsbury did with his 32 HR season in 2011.. Gardner homers again!
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Gardiner the lefty hitting a hr off a rightie. Sometimes it works. Lets see what he is on,and see if the orioles are on the same thing.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Games of interest today: - Baltimore (Gausman) vs Washington (Roark) - Obviously want Washington to win. - Detroit (Schezer) vs Yankees ( McCarthy) - Detroit - Dodgers (Grienke) vs Angels ( Richards) - Dodgers - Oakland (Shark) vs Tampa Bay ( Cobb) - Oakland

As for the rest, Detroit for sure, the other two are a coin toss. For Jays fans, let's hope Roark has his best stuff.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 McCarthy barely gets out of the 2nd inning scoreless.. after wasting 34 pitches. Considering the Yanks pen is gassed, they can't afford a short outing by McCarthy. Nats up 2-1 in the O's game BTW.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Nationals just went up 2-1 Yes!!
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Go Cinncy,Washington,Detroit, and Oakland!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 What a PITA for Baltimore to have to go to Washington for this one game between series. Yuck.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 It's only a 45 minute drive from OPACY lol Oh we're they home for their last series? Was thinking they were on West coast. Edit: Yeah, they wee playing Seattle at home. Oops
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 Oh we're they home for their last series? Was thinking they were on West coast. They were on a west coast swing two weeks ago but merely played west coast teams at home last week. And tomorrow they come to Toronto!
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Eat your heart out, Jim Edmonds! Carrera just saved 2 runs on an unbelievable play. Sadly, a run scored on a SF... 1-0 Yankees.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 f*** the god damn Orioles. Seriously.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Think I've given up the division.
