Kuroda vs Miller: Advantage Cards

Bud Norris vs Gallardo: Toss up? Probably advantage Gallardo

Gavin Floyd vs John Lackey: Toss up. Floyd hasn't pitched much this year

We're in tough tonight against Archer so hopefully we don't lose any ground.

Miller's peripherals have been bad, I definitely think the Yankees have the upper hand. The other two are toss ups.

In what universe is Gallardo vs Bud Norris a toss up? It's baseball and anything could happen but still...

ZiPS think they're very similar, Gallardo only has a 6.7% better xFIP-, Orioles have a slightly better offense. That it's in Milwaukee may edge it slightly their way I suppose.

Damn it braves! Red sox gaining momentum

I remember some were peeved that Tampa swept them, seeing as Tampa is probably the better team and it's generally better to have teams share the basement than have one team emerge. But with our sweep of Tampa it works out.

The Red Sox are disadvantaged in their next two games: Peavy/Minor and Workman/Price. Hopefully that plays out as expected.

If Oakland loses tonight, the Blue Jays will have the best record in the AL.

Nope. Tigers and A's are both tied with the Jays now for the best record in the AL and both are playing each other, so the Jays will move into sole possession of the second best record.

With an Oakland loss tonight, the #BlueJays would have the best record in the AL. Think about that for a minute.

We can just pretend, we're almost there anyways.

Most wins, sure.

Seattle is up 2-0 early against the Angels. LA's going to be in the WC picture all season.

Tigers also have 6 games in hand and a number of makeup games due to rainouts in April. Otherwise, Detroit is DOMINATING the mediocre AL Central.. not as bad as the bottom of the AL East, but not great.

They're +2.0 ahead of the Yankees in the wild card race. They're in good shape. The 2nd wild card spot is a real clusterf***, though.. several mediocre teams are chasing the Yankees, such as the Orioles, Rangers, White Sox, Mariners and Twins.

FYI, with the Blue Jays win, the Rays are closing in on the worst record in the AL and all of baseball for the first time since 2007. Yet, because of the Yanks mediocrity, they're still only 5.5 out, and even Houston is in the mix, at 6.5 back. Is someone going to pull away in the AL soon in the wild card along with the Angels?

Orioles now down 8-3

Thank (K)hris Davis for that big lead with his huge HR.

Don't be looking for much help from the Yanks.. they're going to win unless the Cards offense jumps on David Robertson in the 9th.

But Cruz though... 19 HRS.

What continues to kill the O's is their allergy to OBP and their awful starting pitching. They're actually desperate enough to blow the farm on Jeff Samardzija.. not really a good idea, considering his competition hasn't been strong in the NL, and I feel his numbers are a bit deceptive. Put him against the Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays, and other AL teams and that ERA will skyrocket..

Yanks pull out a win in St. Louis. We still pick up ground on the O's, though. 4.5 up now on the O's, but still 3 up on the Yankees.

On to the Royals next.. could be a good series for the Jays, as the Royals cannot score AT ALL.

Let's go Minnesota, Detroit, Atlanta, Houston and Seattle!

Oh, and go Jays, of course :)

Nah. Beat Tigers 3-1. Crap.

OTOH, thank you Brewers!! Orioles smack down.

Rays and Red Sox meet again. Hopefully the Jays can at least win 2 of the next 3, if not all 3 to create a bit more distance.

Tonight would be a nice bounce back win.

We've got one of our backend guys going after a tough loss but we are at home and the Royals are a mediocre team.

And I totally agree, our playoff chances hinge largely on the fact that no one in this division is likely to win more than 88 games or so. So we need the other AL East teams to continue to scuttle.

Yup. Let's see how this team bounces back. While some people think this is the kind of loss to ruin a season, I'm thinking the opposite. A great opportunity to bounce back and focus on the big picture.

Especially the way they lost it. If they come back and have a good game after a tough loss like that then it will show us a lot about what kind of team they are.

I agree with you on this. The Jays have been playing with a lot of intensity and confidence so a little setback will not shatter their world. Their defence has been bordering on spectacular, their offence pretty good, and the pitching has kept them within striking distance. Everyone makes more than 1 bad play during the season and that is just what happened with Reyes - a bad play. It occurred at a critical time which made the result even more disappointing.

I do not believe the team members' psyches are so fragile that something like this will cause their world to fall apart. They will definitely lose some more games before the end of the season but they will also win some more as well.

Wise insight, brother.

Jays are losing... but it might end up alright.

Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Rangers, all losing. Orioles tied 0-0.
