Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I’d probably take the non-catcher That was my line of thinking too but it seems like most people perceive Adley to be clear cut better, thus he’s a better asset to have. Everyone in this league I’m in knows I’m a slut for Jays prospects so I get offers like this a lot. Maybe I’ll tell him to throw in as much as he can on top of Martin and I’ll end up accepting it.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I hate to say but i agree with Jim. I would take Adley over Austin.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 I hate to say but i agree with Jim. I would take Adley over Austin. Same, Adley might wreck other good catchers with his elite profile, like how Realmuto and Grandal do now.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 I hate to say but i agree with Jim. I would take Adley over Austin. Damnit, now you have me questioning my judgement.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 For fantasy, I would definitely take Austin over Adley.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 It's tough for any catcher, no matter how talented, to consistently put up impact fantasy numbers.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 I know everyone is on pins and needles with regard to my dynasty league trade talks so I thought I'd provide an update. Rather than trading Adley Rutschman for pick 1.2 which would net me Martin, I traded pick 1.3 (probably Zac Veen or some other 2020 draftee) and 1.5 for 1.2 and pick 2.2. The idiots in this league think I got hosed for some reason but to me there is a pretty significant dropoff this year after Torkleson and Martin. Pick 1.5 isn't really all that much better than pick 2.2 IMO (in a 14 team league). Anyway, thanks to everyone for your advice! I appreciate it!
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Which combo do you think offers more value. Dynasty H2H. I am in need of 2b, 3b and SS backup depth, I have zero. if my primaries go down or off day etc. However, also want need SPs... and to stock up on. 1.Brailyn Marquez SP Jose Garcia SS 2. Daniel Espino SP Jose Garcia SS 3. Jean Segura 2b/3b Ethan Hankins SP 4**** Maybe I can swing it, but doubt it, but if comes out #1 I will try harder.. LOL Brailyn Marquez - SP Daniel Espino - SP Thoughts? Thanks!!

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Espino has electric filthy movement stuff (think Sixto) but is further away/more risk. Marquez almost MLB ready with 100 mph from the left side and 3 secondaries. It's closer than Laika suggests IMO but Marquez > Espino mostly due to proximity.

If Espino was closer I would prefer him... Both was not really on the table for the guy I traded. I think Marquez has more Fantasy value /currency as an asset at this point also. Thanks

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I'm in a 14 teamer and some guy is backing up the truck for Bauer. The league favors starting pitchers. He's offering Dinelson Lamet, Nate Pearson, Matt Manning and Jasson Dominguez for Bauer. That's an absolute haul but I'm worried I'm getting three pitchers with arm issues and a 17 year old lottery ticket. The replacement level player in a 14 teamer is awfully high so I'm worried about those pieces delivering. I also probably have the top team in the league so I'm worried I'm significantly hurting my chances this year. Bauer really has only had 1.5 good years but his fastball spin rate was amazing last year so I think he can keep it going. So do the Dodgers. Anyway, I suspect this board will tell me to do it I just wanted to hear anyone's thoughts if they were willing to take a look at this. Thanks!

How many MLB players, keepers, prospects? I'm assuming you are competing in 2021?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Sorry it would be a keeper. 18 keepers each year. 25 man rosters with 15 minor league spots.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Sorry it would be a keeper. 18 keepers each year. 25 man rosters with 15 minor league spots. Are Pearson, Manning, and Dominguez taking up one of the 18 keeper slots or are they on the minor league side and not part of the 18?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 They would be on the minor league roster so not taking up a roster spot.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I'd do the deal but you are right to be hesitant. In a league with only 252 MLB keepers, it's easy to end up with a worthless MLB-side prospect (say if you promote Pearson and cannot demote him but then he's pitching through injuries and in the pen for a couple of years...) I don't think Dominguez should be considered a blue chip prospect yet in a league with your settings. Very far away and some serious body questions. Manning has his own arm concerns. Main reason to do it is that Lamet is as good as Bauer and two years younger. Even if he gets TJS tomorrow all you'll have lost is the 2021 production. If any of the three prospects are fantasy relevant it's house money - you might not even need them to pan out and all three have legit flipping potential. As in, you could trade them right now for some good stuff I would think.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Thank you very much for your help! That's a good point about flipping the prospects, the guys in this league tend to overrate them IMO. I'll mull it over some and maybe see if I can get him to sweeten the pot.

Yes maybe replace Jasson with a MLB piece you need.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 30 team dynasty Meadows, Royce Lewis, Nolan Gorman, Alex Reyes For Trevor Story Debating if this is worth it. On the surface it is, but a lot to give up

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Depends on the team. a contender in need of a SS and steals, make the deal. a weaker team, don't make the deal. significant red flags with the hit tool of Gorman and Lewis
