Franmil Reyes is barely interesting in a 14-team league. That deal is a lot more interesting in a 20- or 30-teamer.

Is there any rhyme or reason to Fantrax doling out their positions? Khris Davis played 4 games in LF last season and somehow Fantrax gave him OF eligibility this year? He's locked in to OF all year now right?

 

I might be acquiring him via trade and am wondering what this means for him for this year and going forward.

Are you sure you're looking at the correct year? I only see him listed as UT for all our leagues.

He is a UTIL only in all of our leagues but Fantrax lets you customize position eligibility. I think their cutoff to qualify is higher than Yahoo, 20 games. If someone didn't have 20 games at any position they get whatever position they played the most games at. Sometimes prospect positions are wonky and you get guys in the MLB with SS, CF, or C eligibility even though they never play there in MLB and might have been moved off the position in the minors.

It depends on the league commissioner, you can set it at 3 games to 20 games for example on eligibility. Sounds like his league is set to bare minimum.

Thanks for the answers guys, I'll check into it. It's weird though because Biggio is 2B only and he played 9 games in the OF and 8 at 1B I believe.

Maybe your league doesn't have a UTIL slot so it defaults to whatever position they played at the most? I dunno

So this league uses "Fantrax's default positions" and the note also states that "if a player does not qualify for any positions based on the above selections, he will qualify at the position(s) played most in the previous MLB season."

 

So Davis either gets a default OF tag or he's getting OF eligibility because he qualified at the position played most in the previous season. In the latter case that should just be UTIL since he played that 100+ times and only 4 in LF so he probably qualifies under the former.

Was offered Ken Giles, Oneill Cruz and Spencer Howard for Charlie Blackmon. There are salaries involved, I'd say Giles salary situation is slightly better than Blackmon's (when factoring in the positions they play).

The package for sure. Blackmon is old! Cruz might be like a shortstop Aaron Judge. Howard is good too

Seems like Blackmon is listed super high on dynasty lists though, way higher than anyone else in the package. He's got a fat contract for a few more years which should keep him in Coors through 2023. Seems like a lock for .290/30 homers/110 runs/85 RBI. That's close to a star player!

 

 

I do like Howard but is Cruz really going to stick at SS? I basically had talked myself into keeping Blackmon until you all chimed in so emphatically. I'll think about it but thanks for the advice friends.

I won the regular season last year and my team is stacked with young talent and good financial situations. Definitely one of the top 3 teams. I have all 3 Baby Jays too. (Vlad, Bichette, Biggio)

Edit: I should add I just really like Blackmon and am not as high on Cruz (though the massive potential is there)

Ehh, probably Hankins. Not a big VV fan and it seems like in a 20 teamer you might be able to find a replacement on the waiver wire for VV?
