Francisco is not a real third baseman, I know. But he's passable. Same with Lawrie at 2nd. It didn't kill us the last couple of days. I would love to them run this lineup out against some rhp when Lind gets back.

Reyes SS

Melky LF

Bautista RF

Lind DH

Encarnacion 1st

Francisco 3rd

Lawrie 2nd

Navaro C

Rasmus CF

I don't think there is a better, more potent offense in the game.

Pretty risky though defensively. I'd love to see it.

Offense is not our issue right now, so I'd rather put the best defense out on the field to help our pitchers.. but we'll see.

I think Lawrie goes back to 3rd and Francisco gets rotated through DH and 3B to give Lind, EE and Lawrie occasional days off and keep his bat around.

On days where he's not starting he's a great pinch hitter off the bench

We have a touch schedule after Phil and Cleeveland. Then it's a bunch of games against Tampa, Oakland, Texas and Boston.

That's sink or swim time obviously

You put Lind in that lineup against rhp and Francisco at third, Lawrie at 2nd..... That is about a tough a lineup that exists in the majors.... No brake what so ever.

Is Francisco's bat worth having him play defense everyday at 3rd? not to mention pushing lawrie over to 2nd which he did not seem to pleased about to begin with.

I'd be ok with that actually. From what I've seen Lawrie looks fine at 2nd, and Francisco hasn't been as bad as I expected. It's better than watching one of the scrubs hit like a pitcher.

That's the issue. He's not a monster at the dish but considering who he'd be replacing I consider it a big upgrade.

I don't understand any of these latest moves, let alone the fantasy line up above.

Why is Eric Kratz even here as a 3rd catcher when we only have 3 outfielders? Why isn't Gose here as our 4th outfielder? Why was Stroman brought up to play mid relief role and when he should be starting today? Why isn't Getz playing 2B and Francisco the power bat off the bench while Gose should be the speed?

Minus the core of this team, everything is backwards and who made these decisions, AA or Gibby? [/rant]

I wonder what Headley would cost at this point outside of taking on his salary this year. It probably wouldn't be prospects that matter... Let Lawrie play 2b so we don't have to keep running bums out there. Headley hardly a sure thing but may hit at RC

Because he's the best catcher on the roster.

Maybe if we had a 7 man BP and 4 outfielders then that makes sense, but we have an 8 man pen and 2 catcher's who lead the AL in most offensive categories for their position. Gose is way more needed right now.

Navarro is limited to hitting only till the end of the week so no we don't really have 3 catchers.

Ah thank you, I just googled for the update there. I missed the weekend games and didn't realize he's injured. Makes a little more sense now. Still think we're short an OF.

The question comes down to Juan Francisco at 3B vs. Getz/Tolleson at 2B. You also have to factor in Lawrie's glove at 3B vs. his glove at 2B.

If Lawrie's defense was as equally impressive at 2B as it is at 3B I would probably prefer Francisco. But I think Lawrie's defense drops when he plays 2B so I probably prefer the Getz/Tolleson platoon.

I tend to agree. It's a tough call though because the offence Francisco could provide is significantly more but you weaken the D at two positions in the process.

Yeah... it's not ideal.... I just loving looking at this lineup.

Reyes S

Cabrera S

Bautista R

Lind L

Encarnacion R

Francisco L

Navarro S

Lawrie R

Rasmus L

I really don't think 1 through 9 there is a better offensive lineup in the majors then that. I'd love to see it.... even though you would be sacrificing defensively.... and maybe you just don't want to do that.

Right now we have to put the best defense out there and try to help the pitchers out . Obviously Francisco,s bat will be missed but I don't see Lawrie moving to 2nd without a fight.

Do you think Lawrie at 2b is measurably worse than Getz/Tolleson?
