I have not been treated with respect,nor disrespect due to me mostly browsing this site and absorbing the valuable baseball information that I have not found on other sites. You have here a full spectrum of diverse characters,most whom contribute in their own way. By nature i am a shy person, but will try hard to participate in topics that I find interesting, and feel I can add to. And I must mention the humour here,it is often that I have chuckled at some of the

I apologize to anyone if I ever offend them. I never have intention too. I'm not COMPLETELY sabr. What really irks me though is complete dismissal of sabermetrics because someone can't understand them. That's rare though thankfully, even Gruber doesn't do that. I like educating people and people who are open to being educated. 2 years ago, I too, used AVG and W, people on this board introduced me to further stats and I took interest and learned myself.

 

not to put too much pressure on it but I would love a sticky topic that ran down the most important advanced stats. I clearly rely too much on era, avg, etc. Mainly because these are what im exposed to when I manage to catch a game.

 

I've looked up explanations for these stats but there not sticking for some reason. A laymans guide would be incredibly useful in following these debates and gaining a better understanding.

Here's a good comprehensive list of the stats we use and reference often, including wRC+, wOBA, WAR, FIP, xFIP, etc...

If you have any more questions, I'm sure we'd be happy to explain.
