Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 rofl Just came back on here to see if we got him or not, I cracked the f*** UP when I saw the posts that came after 5pm........... ECJF, roll one up man. You sound like you need it. ;-)
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Not making a decision by his own deadline shows Santana may not be good under pressure...Jays should pull their offer off the table.
8D Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 AA needs to cool things down. First despaired Bean Stringfellow and then now despairing Santana like nobody's business. AA is a ninja.

8D Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Santana just loves watching his threads on this forum multiply in pages every 10 minutes. f***ing troll
CHRIS Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 What an annoying process. So he wants to wait another few days with the season fast approaching? Seems like waiting longer should decrease his value as he's less likely to be ready for the start of the season with each passing day. This seems like a classic case of a guy getting bad advice and being too stupid to realize it.

This seems like a classic case of a guy getting bad advice and being too stupid to realize it. It makes it even funnier when the guy has 14M sitting on the table while his fellow countrymen are earning like 2 dollars a day. This is just a huge combo of stupidity, greed, and an over-inflated ego. This is a guy who has forgotten where he came from.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 f*** Santana. We can get the same numbers by mixing and matching internally. The last thing this team needs is an egotistical, off centered hat wearing douche. He'll create a divide between the Dominicans and the rest of the team, like Bonifacio seemed to have created. Not good for the team.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Despairing the despairer.....I like this Santana guy!
xposbrad Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 He's trying to get the best deal he can. Give the guy a break, everyone would do the same thing. He's had the entire offseason for that. At this point, using the jays contract as leverage for other teams is BS. 0 chance he resigns here if he's acting like this already. The whole deadline thing is so amateur anyways if it was ever true to begin with, especially reneging on it, just shows his character.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I suppose a one year deal is worth the risk, but I'm skeptical regarding his clubhouse presence.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Apparently, Bautista is openly campaigning for the Jays to sign Santana. Ok, Jose, if you're willing to cut your salary by 2M, they can offer that much more to Santana.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Clubhouse presence comes from clubhouse unity, clubhouse unity comes from winning, winning comes from skill! Not the other way around IMO. If clubhouse unity isn't established early on and the team has a poor start out of the gate (two months), then it makes it that it that much harder to dig yourself out, opposed to a team that has a more unified clubhouse.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This has turned into the best thread ever! I think a Mr Ryan Goins would have something to say about that.
Jim_Ackers_balls Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This is one of the players the Jays should have traded asked for from the Angels years ago when they had the opportunity to unload Vernon Wells before giving him that ridiculous $100 MM deal. His stats aren't that good in the limited sample in any of the AL East parks. Still better than any internal options. On a one-year deal I'm OK with it.

Do you have some examples of where clubhouse unity helped overcome a poor start?

That doesn't exactly sound like openly campaigning to me. He may be doing so behind the scenes, but people are just speculating so because the two are friends. It wouldn't surprise me if he did speak to AA and as a leader and someone who could aid in the process. Jose is doing all his talking on the field having hit three bombs already this season.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I saw this thread and got excited, nothing official?
vdartanian Verified Member Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Yes because it was the cancerous clubhouse that made our starting pitchers so f***ing awful last year.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Ok, buddy. Saying I'd rather have a pitcher coming off a good year, than a pitcher coming off a terrible one who has major health concerns makes me an idiot? Good point. AA is who I think is an idiot. I never made my opinions of you known, even if I did think poorly of you my opinions wouldn't be so passionate.

Some of the things he said are true, namely that it's not the same because Josh Johnson was a big part of why the Jays were considered contenders. Over all though, you're right that he should stick to doing all his talking on the field.
