eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 And why the f*** didn't they qualify JJ if they had this cash? He's at least as good as Santana and there was a very real chance of him netting a 1st round pick. lol Come on. The budget is tight. AA is trying to save his job. Imagine trying to justify to Rogers giving 14M to a guy who just completely imploded.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Not a huge fan of Santana but on a 1 year deal this just restores faith in the ninja. I'd do a poll to get people on the record for if they like this or not, but there is no such thing as a bad 1 year deal so it's a waste of time. Now let's hope his elbow holds and he can pitch like last year and not the year before. Also, I'd go with Happ #5 for 4-5 starts and if he still sucks call up hutch. When Ervin or morrow go down it's stroman time.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I wonder if the Jays make this move if Happ was pitching well?

bowld Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 LOL watch him sign with someone else after all of this
If someone gives him more he's not a Jay.

Sparky12 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Our offense will be good, our bullpen will be good, if we can get some big years out of are starters I like our chances
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 this is gonna drag out today! praying a real 2B is next
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 im shocked he's comin in here for a 1 year deal.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Someone will swoop in and offer 15M. Watch.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 And why the f*** didn't they qualify JJ if they had this cash? He's at least as good as Santana and there was a very real chance of him netting a 1st round pick. Well, if the padres signed him, was there 1st protected? But yes, I would have liked JJ over santana if the money was there. Considering JJ was also going to be here on a 1 year deal if they QOd him. But nothing this team does surprises me anymore, it's as if they do things to get the least value.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Is there anyone else kind of offended by this? Alright, if there's NOOOOOOOOBODY else, I'll sign with this piece of s*** team. Basically treating it like a Walmart or McDonalds job..."I don't really wanna take it...but I have to pay the rent somehow".
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 My money's on another team swooping in and beating the offer, if they do offer 15M or more, let them have him.

AA put a despair tag on him, why should we be offended when he tries to get a better deal?
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 probably not going to get him now.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 If they do sign him watch Boras start crying the blues again about rogers not willing to spend a gazillion $$$ on his clients .
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Do the Orrioles really wanna give up a 1, 2, and 3rd round picks. Especially for only one year of Santana?
CHRIS Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Yeah, I think we all know that this isn't going to pan out.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 If no one else will ask me to the prom... I guess I will go with you.
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The one advantage the jays have in this is we offer him 14M and only have to give up our 2nd if we get him, if a team wants to go higher not only will they have to pay 15M+ they will also have to give up their 1st and I really don't know if Santana is worth giving a 1st up for
Funky Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 At least he will give us a chance at a win on a majority of his starts. Hope it is true. Flip Happ and prospects to Seattle for a young infielder.

Baltimore, ect would not
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Orioles will offer 15. Book it. According to mlbtr Santana is deciding between the jays who offered 14M and the orioles who offered 13M plus incentives, so atleast we know we have offered him more guaranteed money than the orioles, question is how much does Santana like the incentives the orioles are offering
