ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Stop holding your breath guys/girls, the value just isn't there.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This would kinda make up for the JJ blunder, but doubt it happens.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 If/when AA stands pat, the flaming is going to be ridiculous. Like, was he too expensive? Was 1 year too long a commitment?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 You think he will sign tonight? I would think by Monday.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Jays signed a pitcher, there's a report out there.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Jays signed a pitcher, there's a report out there. Another knuckleballer from some beer league?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Why does Sng always say WinsAR? Lol WinsAR and WAR are two different things Happ is Worse than Any Replacement level player
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Another knuckleballer from some beer league? Don't know much about him, but he led the Korean league in Ks last year.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Someone else thinks the Jays should trade for Rick Porcello: http://digitaljournal.com/sports/mlb-trade-rumors-rick-porcello-to-toronto-blue-jays/article/375078 Of course, it's just some guy speculating.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Well years are now down to one so let's see what AAs hand is. This is a poker move.

"A proposed trade would have the 25-year-old headed north of the border and young outfielder Moises Sierra and possibly another young prospect or two head to the Motor City."
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 AA can go for the classic 3 year deal now.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 AA can go for the classic 3 year deal now. NO. Sierra for Porcello is better idea
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Omfg just sign the guy. Trade Santos for prospects to free up some cash if money is really that tight. JUST GET CREATIVE YOU f***ING IDIOT.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 You watch. The Orioles or some other team in direct competition with us will sign him for something absurd like 1/8. Santana is not some greedy f***. His agent was just an idiot who overplayed his hand.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 NO. Sierra for Porcello is better idea f*** Porcello.
over500 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 CNN just confirmed that AA offered Santana a minor league contract.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Dickey Morrow Buehrle Santana Porcello We'd have a fighting chance, at least.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The Jays/Rogers must hate this news. They're not getting Santana, they're not trying to get Santana, they don't want Santana, they have no money to get Santana. But this news out there just makes them look cheap.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 If it is a one year deal then it seems the 3/27 may have been fake.

Rogers does not want to spend a dime this off-season. This news will make them look incredibly cheap, especially when Santana signs a bargain for another team.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 AA is still waiting for the price to drop.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 With two rotation spots open and almost every single one of the 4/5 options struggling, it's going to be a s*** storm when Santana signs somewhere else. I'm already pissed off at AA/Beeston/Rogers and it hasn't even happened yet.

He's presumably quite happy to sign here. Sign him 1 year 12-13M, then as long as he's decent a QO giving us another single year of him or a draft pick.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Moises Sierra for Verlander. Ruben Sierra for Miggy. Ricardo Nanita for Scherzer.

I honestly cannot express in words how upset I am that the Jays two biggest weaknesses, rotation and 2B, can easily be filled by signing Santana and Drew to short-term contracts, but the team refuses to spend additional money. I mean, it's right f'n there! Improve 2B and SP (probably could get both done on one year deals) and keep all your prospects. Why are the Jays so damn frustrating???

They had no problem pulling the trigger for the much worse contracts last year, and they gave up prospects as well. Just ridiculous
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Its almost a certainty that Santana will sign with Baltimore.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
