Buggs Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 http://rbigame.mlb.com/rbigame/home.jsp Not sure if this has come up but anybody have anything on this game? I've searched the web and can't find anything else? Is this supposed to compete with The Show? I need a good baseball game for Xbox!
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 There is no way this will compete with The Show. I doubt this game will be anything more than a arcade game. The only choice for sim baseball will be The Show i think,

"Update 2: A representative for 2K Sports confirmed to Polygon that the label isn't involved with R.B.I. Baseball 14." Should easily become the best Baseball game available for the Xbox.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Do many people play this online? Yes, there are many active leagues: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/ootp-14-online-leagues/ Never bothered with one myself, just like playing solo. The computer AI is pretty good. Been playing this game over 10 years now, I always buy the new version every year. Very addictive.

So that makes sense lol. They need a baseball title published for Xbox and PC and it just wasn't going to happen externally, so they're doing it themselves. Then hopefully it succeeds and EA notices that and re-boots MVP Baseball.
Dirty SlobberKnocker Verified Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I was actually looking at OOTP 14 on steam pretty recently, missed the boat when it was on sale during one of the Steam season sales though. I'll probably pick it up during the next Steam sale, is there much of a difference between each release?
vic city Verified Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Super Baseball 2020 is begging for an update. Maybe in 2020? http://i.imgur.com/z1aOBbZ.jpg aww yea LOL I used to have that for Sega. It was actually kind of fun.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I don't know why EA doesn't reboot MVP Baseball. Honestly, if they would just update the graphics, rosters, portraits/uniforms/logos and add a 'My Player' mode it would be a success. MVP Baseball 2005's gameplay is still better than that of any MLB 2K game.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 You can actually download a mod for MVP to make it MVP 14 Yes, MVPMods.com! I love that site, I've been grabbing mods from there since 2007, it's a crazy modding community. There's no MVP 14 mod, but you can grab the MVP 13 mod and add the new roster files to it.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Ratings are based off Pecota. Ehh. Better than the Show's though lol. Are accurate MiLB rosters provided in release? International leagues are pretty cool. OOTP looks great this year. I've been debating on it for a while but I think I'm gonna pick it up this year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Never heard of this game before, Interesting.. It's really fun, probably the most complete baseball sim game out there, and when trading/signing FA the AI is actually pretty smart and demands for fair deals (if not overpaying at times). I like to play the GM mode only, so at least you can focus on just one thing at a time. I used to play baseball mogul (which was still really fun) but I think this game is better, it also has cool loading time quotes and random facts which I find interesting.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 $40, I think. $42 now, but you can get a little off by preordering before Feb 15.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 For someone that is new to the game, worth just getting 14 for 20?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 For someone that is new to the game, worth just getting 14 for 20? As someone who went through a lot of trouble just to acquire 14, I'd say yes (this was also my first OOTP game); but remember the thing about sim games is that they go full depth in the systems, so some prospects whose stocks went up during the season might be a bit low, and you might not have players like Tanaka or Abreu, though I'm sure someone by now has come out with rosters to add them in.

Thanks, I'm thinking of getting it. For 25 bucks it's worth a shot, and everyone else seems to enjoy it.

This sounds like a nostalgic game to come out with which could be pretty cool. When I was a kid I loved Roger Clemens MVP baseball for NES. That was a great game.

fapaholic Verified Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 OOTP is a great sim and I've been playing it since version 4 I think. I recommend checking out the OOTP forums, where you'll find all kinds of cool stuff and help if you need it. They also have some other games in the pipeline, including a hockey sim though I haven't tried it and I think they just announced a football sim is coming.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 $20 for OOTP14 is a steal. OOTP15 will not be released till April, so buying both version is really only $55 at the moment if you pre-order OOTP15. You can easily transfer your OOTP14 to OOTP15 when it's released. I play as the Jays GM, play out all my games in one pitch mode. I only do player substitutions for my own team during the game so that it's a fair game with the AI. You have everything in that game. There will be small improvements when a new version is release, amazingly somehow they find ways to make an OOTP addict buy every version. I have tons of games and this is the one that I spend hours playing it almost every day. It's my main hobby since retiring over 9 years ago. You will not be disappointed with this game. You will be hooked by it, I promise.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I bought the 14 version last night and didn't go to bed till 5 lol, this game will take some time getting use to, you are literally in charge of everything/so many different screens.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Anything named RBI Baseball doesn't sound too promising. I bet JPA will love this game. He should be on the front cover.

No stats during the seasons will be kept, instead there will be "Top 10 _______" lists with no determinable criteria.
