fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Cheyrou (35 year old defensive mid) comes on for Giovinco as a late injury sub and scores you can't make this s*** up Then Altidore manages to beat out 2 defenders to set up Ricketts. I watch my fair share of MLS games every year since Toronto got a team, but Montreals defence has looked so shotty, even by the low MLS standards.
crazy47larry Verified Member Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 watch the occasional MLS game, know a thing or too more than the average pleb but thats not saying much. that game was tits
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Can't wait for tonight!! TFC!!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I've barely watched MLS and maybe it's just s bad game but the talent level seems pretty bad. So many mistakes/bad touches

So many mistakes/bad touches It's bad but to be fair the players' balls are frozen. Seriously, playing their championship game in Toronto during december is not a great showcase.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Lmao wouldn't be an event in Toronto without people throwing a bottle on the field..
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I've barely watched MLS and maybe it's just s bad game but the talent level seems pretty bad. So many mistakes/bad touches I barely watch soccer but decided to give this game a chance. I can't do it, the flopping around and theatrics just make me cringe, can't believe grown men act like that.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 It's always the former Toronto athletes

I can't do it, the flopping around and theatrics just make me cringe, can't believe grown men act like that. Yeah it can get annoying. If they get kicked in the leg I get as that s*** hurts but when it's when they clip your heel come on... Also about to see the stupidest ending to a championship game..
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I love when they grab their head then switch and decide it's their knee that got hurt.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Jesus f***ING CHRIST that f***ING SAVE BY STEFAN FREI.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 lol Toronto dominated the whole game and Seattle wins on that.. what a stupid way to end a game
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 The sub out for Gio and the save by Frei. Rip in piece Toronto FC (2016-2016), we hardly knew ya.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Seattle didn't have 1 Shot on Goal during the game and won.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Seattle didn't have 1 Shot on Goal during the game and won. lmao @ soccer
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Toronto didn't do s*** and they had home field, they deserve to lose.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I can't get over that. Team literally wins a championship without getting a shot on goal.

43211234 Verified Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Remind me to never watch a soccer game again. Is there any particular reason they don't want to fix their sport? - the clock should stop - they should actually try to get rid of diving - should be more than one referee - penalty shootouts should never decide anything past the regular season/group stage - penalty shootouts should obviously be taken from farther back - changes should be made to the field or number of players to increase scoring Is there something inherently pure about guys diving for 90 minutes while some old guy 60 feet behind the play blows the whistle randomly and nobody ever scores or gets a shot and then the game is decided on what is essentially a coinflip? Oh, and the governing body is a corrupt piece of garbage.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Seattle didn't have 1 Shot on Goal during the game and won. Lol wow! No wonder TFC lost the shootout, their goalie must have been frozen by that point.

Oh, and the governing body is a corrupt piece of garbage. Football is a wonderful sport. It's the most beloved game in the world for a reason. Did you post this after screaming at a bunch of kids to get off your lawn? MLS' quality isn't super high yet but it's light years ahead of where it was a few years back. We need events like these to help spur interest in the game so our national team can improve. Cheers to TFC for a great year. I'll be getting season seats next year.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I'm with 4321. Soccer is an already boring game that the major leagues around the world make even worse with staggeringly stupid timekeeping and scoring rules. I'm pretty sure it's only popular because of the low barrier to entry. Do you have a ball and feet? You have an opportunity to play soccer. And shootouts should be banned from the universe. Why not get rid of extra innings in MLB and hold a sudden death home run derby? A shootout is like something invented by children who want to finish their game before f***ing curfew.

Oh, and the governing body is a corrupt piece of garbage. MLS should be the CFL of soccer. Should have changed the rules up so it's quirky and fresh. Stop time, video review of fouls, allow line changes to keep the pace at a maximum, bigger nets, smaller goalies, make the field 10 yards shorter and a bit thinner, 5 on 5 sudden death OT, put up boards instead of a chalk line, etc.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 It's the most beloved game in the world for a reason. Because it is simple to understand and costs next to nothing to play.

Wasn't my post anti-get-off-my-lawn? There's no reason why soccer couldn't change things up a bit and make a better product.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Is there any particular reason they don't want to fix their sport? - the clock should stop f*** no this is a terrible idea. 45 minutes is the perfect length for a half, with a few minutes of injury time to account for stoppages. Not too long, not too short. - they should actually try to get rid of diving Agree but what do you suggest? It's very difficult to say someone has cheated unless it's blatant. A blatant dive is punished with a yellow card. - should be more than one referee There is, what used to be called linesmen (the guys with the flags) are now assistant referees who will tell the referee if there is a foul. The reason there is one guy in charge is to keep the game flowing, his decision is final. - penalty shootouts should never decide anything past the regular season/group stage What's your alternative suggestion? At least pens are exciting. - penalty shootouts should obviously be taken from farther back Haha no, this isn't ice hockey - changes should be made to the field or number of players to increase scoring Nope, football isn't a sport where the only enjoyment comes from the goals. If that's what you're after watch futsal which is 5 a side. It's a bit like saying the only good thing about baseball is homeruns, ignoring all the other aspects of the sport. Oh, and the governing body is a corrupt piece of garbage. Agree with this one!
