Why should a trade of a different player affect whether or not a trade is an overpay? By this approach every pitching trade since Doug Fister has been an overpay.

I'd probably be okay with something like 6/$36M (incl. fee) to take a chance on Kang (plus, we'd have a guy named Kang on the roster...) Seems pretty risky, but he could play at 2B and definitely be an upgrade over Goins (would block Travis, which is unfortunate, but has enough of a chance of being an upgrade over Travis that I'd be willing to do that...)
