bendera3 Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I saw on MLBTraderumors that Micah Owings is still available. Has anyone seen him play the outfield? He might be an interesting piece to put in AAA and have him play the outfield and pitch.
fireballW Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 SSS. Yes he has power, since as a pitcher he probably just swang for the fences since there were no expectations, but the guy isn't going to hi MLB pitching, which is evident by his K/BB #'s. He's a good hitter for a pitcher.

He's a good hitter for a pitcher. Apparently he's abandoned his plan to become a full time position player and now wants to be a pitcher again. I like him in a bullpen role where he can be your eigth reliever but also help stretch your 3 man bench in a pinch. Of course in the Jays case, the whole reason for the deep bullpen is to protect out of options guys and you'd have to dump one of those to make room for him which kind of defeats the purpose. I bet a manager like Joe Maddon who loves to exploit positional flexibility would enjoy having a guy like Owings on his team.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm in and out of work all weekend, might catch some. Would like to. Are they also televising these LAD vs AUS national team games??
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Disagree. I agree they haven't done a good job at developing talent. God knows even at the MLB level I've complained about Walker lots. But they have shown a good ability to identify it. They've traded away a lot of prospects and almost all those prospects go downhill after we trade them. The problem is, all the prospects they keep seem to go downhill as well. LOL.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 JeffPassan Astros have engaged OF Robbie Grossman and C Jason Castro on extensions too. @Ken_Rosenthal reported $23M offer to prospect George Springer. Sources: Astros, 3B Matt Dominguez closing in on five-year contract extension worth around $17M with two club options for ~$8M and ~$10M.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Swisher not thrilled with Lofton's comments. Lofton has a reputation for being a jerk but this seems like a really trivial thing to get mad about. Baseball players are weird.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Lofton has a reputation for being a jerk but this seems like a really trivial thing to get mad about. Baseball players are weird. Well the baseball season is a long grind and to have it come to an end by losing a 1 game playoff tie breaker is pretty crappy. Having someone discredit their season shortly after by basically saying they didn't really make the playoffs at all would just make it worse
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm not even sure I disagree with Lofton tbh, but to come out and say it about your former team isn't exactly endearing. The mental image also cracked me up, Swisher always keeps it interesting. Yeah Lofton was pretty dumb not to keep this to himself but he's kind of know as an ass. When I saw that Swisher got made at him, I expected it be over something way more out of line.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Chapman needs surgery and is out 6-8 weeks
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Update on PECOTA's... and the Yankees are facing a finish between 3rd and last at 82-80.. they're not a good team due to their pitching question marks. Any idea for the downgrade?
