connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I dont see the foul. Dont you have to actually talk with the player to make it tampering?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Meeeeeeeehhh. f*** the Yankees and all, but that's a little weak imo.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I dont see the foul. Dont you have to actually talk with the player to make it tampering? No it's very clearly tampering. You can't comment on other teams players.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Totally fine comment in my books.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 The very reason of the rule, although it's in a grey area. It's pretty obvious that Trout's agent will mention the NYY comments in any contract talks. They should've just left it at he's 30yo and we aren't giving any 30yo's a ten year deal.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Totally fine comment in my books. It impacts Trust's contract negotiations with the LAA, it's tampering.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 It impacts Trust's contract negotiations with the LAA, it's tampering. agreed
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 It's subtle, but that comment can def be seen as an indicator to Trouts camp that they'd be interested.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 It impacts Trust's contract negotiations with the LAA, it's tampering. Meh, I stand by my comment. I don't see it that way.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Meh, I stand by my comment. I don't see it that way. Think of it from the Angels' perspective. I'm sure we'd all be pissed if we were in their shoes.
Brenner Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 meh it's a stretch to call it tampering, but it is hyping up another team's player which could inflate their future contracts. Its more about the league trying to keep player costs down, last thing they need is GMs trying to sabotage each other's Arb players.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 It is 100% tampering. You can't talk about the length, any type of contract details about another player. Imagine the yanks said, if Mike trout was here we'd have him on a 10 year 300 mill contract. That's why you can't talk about another player or any type of details on their contract situation, which the yanks just did by saying they'd have him on a 10 year deal.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 It's still a sidekick at tampering mate, it's why I said it lands in a grey area, they'll have to vote on the acquisation. Oh I agree, it is tampering.
Key22 Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The Yankees broke the rule by publicly stating it. I am sure teams "get the word" to players about length and contract terms well before they hit free agency as they do with draft picks. The Yankees may get hit with tempering - so what? What's the fine? Rich teams could care less about fines. Maybe if you get caught for tampering and the fine is $1 million plus the loss of your first and second round pick for 2 years plus a reduction in luxury tax space by 50% it might learn them.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I think we all know Mike Trout would get a 10-year deal worth $300 million if he was a FA lol. But yeah, it's not right that another MLB team tampers another players value like that.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 That's tampering? sheesh
The_DH Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 No don't acuse the Yankees of tampering. Their penalty would be to give up ARoid.

But yeah, it's not right that another MLB team tampers another players value like that. I don't think he'd sign for 10 years because I think every single big market team would offer him that many years if he hit FA right now. I could see it taking 12-13 years, and I'd be comfortable giving them to him lol
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Chris Bosh is gay, but none of his teammates say a word about that issue. Dipoto do it
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Chris Bosh is gay, but none of his teammates say a word about that issue. Dipoto do it I doubt it. Maybe he likes both.. but in this day and age you're not going to get married if you're totally gay.. he just had a baby and has a 5yo I think from a previous relationship
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 When Trout hits free agency he is going to get 15/300
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 When Trout hits free agency he is going to get 15/300 I highly doubt he would take that deal now if he was a FA. 10/300 will be the starting point.. as its a still years down the road, it will likely be higher.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The Yankees should be investigated for framing A-Rod in order to void his contract.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 You have to be innocent to be framed.

He should have just said something about an elite 26 year old (like Trout will be when FA hits).
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 When Trout hits free agency he is going to get 15/300 He might be worth that too.
