ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Tigers win getting that contract out from underneath. Rangers are reportedly getting some $ from the Tigers plus they've been trying to rid Kinsler's contract themselves and they have a cheap replacement in Profar. We'll see how much they're getting from the Tigers.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I like it for Detroit, since they rid themselves of the Fielder contract and now can move Miguel Cabrera back to first base where he belongs. Also, I'm assuming now Detroit will try and move Castellanos back to third base and look for an outfielder via free agency. Also, they now could possibly extend Scherzer. As for Texas, I think Fielder should hit well in that ballpark and could put up monster numbers over the next 3-4 years. After that, he'll be a disaster. Now Profar gets a clear path to play at second base.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Would Buehrle and Janssen/Delabar/Cecil + Nolin land you Porcello? +200 IP have a lot of value. Buehrle is a good asset no matter what (2Ys/37M)

Buehrle is a good asset no matter what (2Ys/37M) I can't see anyone giving up a truly elite pitching prospect, like a Wheeler, for Porcello even if he may warrant that type of player in return.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Would Buehrle and Janssen/Delabar/Cecil + Nolin land you Porcello? Porcello is a head case...has 2 years of before he's a free agent and you want to trade buehrle, our entire bullpen plus nolin for 2 years of porcello......thanks but no thanks...

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I read somewhere (here?) DET is sending TEX $40M. That's a lot of money then you add the cheap option they have at 2b in Profar and it doesn't look as bad as for Texas for the next 2-3 years anyway, after that...
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Buehrle + 10M for Porcello I'd do that deal but, DET would need the incentive of a BP piece to pull the trigger on any Porcello deal IMO.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Anyone notice on MLBTR it now says the Tigers will play MELKY CABRERA at 1B. "The deal should will prompt a positional shift for the Tigers and one imagines that they will play Nick Castellanos at third base while slotting Melky Cabrera at first." ha ha

I like it for TEX, I don't think they're done adding yet either.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 So does this mean Detroit will pay Kinsler 23M per year over the next 4? It's certainly better than paying 24M per year for the next 7 years.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Jeff Passan ✔ @JeffPassan Follow Final deal: Detroit trades Prince Fielder + $30M to Texas for Ian Kinsler. TEX gets Prince for 7/$138M, DET gets Kinsler for 4/$62M + $30M.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Can't read tweets on tapatalk Could someone please post what it says Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 Trade is Fielder + 30 million to the Rangers for Kinsler. After adjusting for the money changing hands, the Rangers get Fielder for 7 years/138 million and Detroit ends up with Kinsler for 4 years/62 million and the 30 million that they sent to the Rangers
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Jesus.,that's out of Left Field. I guess the off season is no longer slow!
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 And Jays get nothing the jays were never going to get profar....so chill out dude..
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) So I guess Castellanos is going back to 3B? Edited November 21, 2013 by havok24
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 So I'm guess Castellanos is going back to 3B? I could see them going out and getting another bat, sticking him at 1st and then keep Miggy at third. That Organization just screams random moves
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Tigers got a lot of versatility in what they can do still i like the deal for them. Texas now has Moreland without a job it seems unless they just dh prince.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I like this move for both teams. Texas has had a hole at 1B for a while, and they had to trade one of Kinsler/Adrus/Profar. Detroit could not keep Miggy at 3rd for much longer, plus they fill their 2nd base need and Castellanos can man 3rd.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 ESPN says reports hav eTigers sending somewhere between 30 and 50M to Rangers. That sure changes the complexion of it
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 So I'm guess Castellanos is going back to 3B? NO. Chase Headley
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Absolutely outstanding deal for Detroit. Got themselves out from under one of the worst contracts in professional sporting history.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 $30 million Well that changes things a bit. But Kinsler is still more valuable than Fielder anyway. Guy is so overrated.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Tigers save a ton of money and improve their infield defense X 100000000000
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Absolutely outstanding deal for Detroit. Got themselves out from under one of the worst contracts in professional sporting history. Let's not go overboard now. Prince's contract is bad. Pujols' contract? Now that's historically bad. There's a difference.
