G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Alex Rodriguez Sues Major League Baseball by Steve Adams, Oct 4 at 10:02 AM CST Alex Rodriguez has filed a lawsuit against Major League Baseball, accusing MLB of buying the cooperation of Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch to further a "witch hunt" to push him out of the game permanently, according to Steve Eder, Serge Kovaleski, and Benjamin Weiser of the New York Times. The lawsuit claims that an investigator paid $150K for stolen records pertaining to Rodriguez (part of which was reportedly exchanged in a paper bag at a Fort Lauderdale restaurant). The lawsuit also claims that MLB has paid Bosch as much as $5MM for his cooperation in addition to promising to provide him security, cover his legal bills and indemnify him from civil liability. Rodriguez is quoted as stating that this lawsuit is separate from the ongoing arbitration hearing regarding his 211-game suspension:

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I actually want A-Rod to f*** MLB up the ass.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 NY Times: Among the allegations, Rodriguez’s lawyers wrote that Major League Baseball had paid Bosch, the head of the now-closed Biogenesis clinic in Coral Gables, Fla., a total of $5 million in monthly installments “to buy his cooperation,” citing “at least one individual who claims to have knowledge of Mr. Bosch’s deal.” The lawyers said that baseball also promised to provide security for Bosch, cover his legal bills and indemnify him from civil liability stemming from the case. Joyce Fitzpatrick, a spokeswoman for Bosch, said Friday that Bosch had not been paid by baseball for his cooperation. Bud Selig, the commissioner of baseball, was named as a defendant in the suit, but the Yankees, who owe Rodriguez $86 million after this season, were not, nor were any of the team’s officers.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Wow Lol, MLB has the NERVE to claim Rodriguez is the one circumventing the CBA? That is f***ing priceless. I hope A-Rod comes out on top by a landslide. As despicable as people might think he is, he's not even on the same level as Selig. He's going after A-Rod only to save his own face and use him as a symbol of his success over PEDs. Ridiculous. Let's all forget about the 90s because Alex Rodriguez!!!! Another thing, I'm even pretty sure Rodriguez isn't even juicing anymore. He's had a pretty clear decline for such an amazing player that we didn't really see from a lot of the greats that juiced.

Steroids will only get you so far. He's had too many nagging injuries going back 5-6 years. 2009-2010 was where the big drop came and I assume he was juicing then. Every year he was battling something. Juice prob helped him stay relevant. Doesnt have same body makeup as Clemens/Bonds, etc
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Yeah I don't like Arod, but this ******** that the MLB is trying to pull is unacceptable.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Yeah I don't like Arod, but this ******** that the MLB is trying to pull is unacceptable. What is even more asinine is that on the field, Arod was always a professional. Doesnt argue borderline strike calls and as far as I can remember, he doesnt show up the umps. Like others have mentioned, this is all about MLB trying to make themselves look good. Really bs

No one will remember Selig as the commissioner that cleaned up baseball, simply because he hasn't cleaned up the game. There are still lots of players violating the MLB drug policy and there will be when Bud retires. Selig will always be remembered as the commissioner of the steroid era. The feud with A-Rod has very little to do with Selig's legacy and much more to do with A-Rod's. This is a man fighting to preserve his reputation, fortune and legacy. He is going to fight the MLB every step of the way to protect his best interests. However, lets not forget A-Rod did take PEDs and is probably guilty of much more cheating than he has admitted. This is about A-Rod making as much money as possible before he retires and hopefully getting into the HOF.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 What else is A-Rod going to do, sit around at home for two years and miss out on $48M, while perhaps being forced into retirement? No! He has enormous incentive to launch the biggest legal attack baseball has ever seen. Good for him.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 This might be the first time where "the only winners are the lawyers" is a good thing.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 All who are cheering for A-Rod might as well cheer for Bonds also. They are both cheaters in my books. Slimballs.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 ARod now also suing the Yankees team doctor and the hospital he's affiliated with Maybe the fans should now sue A-Rod for emotional distress or something. I wonder if this will spur the Yankees to try to void his contract?

I wonder if this will spur the Yankees to try to void his contract? They have explored every possible angle for voiding his contract and they just can't.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Meh, if I were A-Rod, I'd do the same. Says a lot about you...lol
kgm1 Verified Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Meh, if I were A-Rod, I'd do the same. Selig is the biggest douche on the planet for doing nothing/nil when everyone was sticking a needle in their ass for the most part. f***, people who think Delgado didn't are just as naive. You might have in the start Jay but like almost all players you would have realized it is time to clean up the game . I hate selig too because he acts like he didn't know and once he found out made it his mission to clean up the game . What a load of crap . Dito these writers who won't vote for anyone in the steroid era . They all knew what was happening and Selig is the worst . Doesn,t matter: Aroid had no reason to keep pumping the PEDs and should have took his lumps like everyone else . Instead he tried to buy the evidence and ( unlike Bonds who supported his trainer ) Aroid threw his to the sharks . He thinks he is bigger than the game and I hate the ******* .
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Says a lot about you...lol Get off your high horse, you self righteous asshat.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I guarantee, every single person here would juice if it meant an extra hundred million in their lifetime. Guarantee. All these people who cry about guys "cheating the game" as if it's a living entity make me sick. Easy to take a moral stand on the sidelines, but you sure were cheering for these guys in the 90s, even though the juicing was obvious.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 LOL, you really need to look at yourself in the mirror. For what? He's absolutely right. The majority of people anyone talks to who calls themselves a baseball fan was cheering their asses off for all their favorite players in the steroid era, watching records being broken. Now it's the "in" thing to do to denounce any performance enhancing drug users as cheats and horrible human beings, when the fact is that those fans buried their heads in the sand when it was plainly obvious to anyone with eyes that the majority of all players, not just stars, were on roids. Someone comes up to me and offers me a needle in the ass if it means I would make 100 million dollars over the next 10 years in my chosen profession, I don't care If a grew an extra toe, three fingers and an ear fell off as a result, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and so would you. A-Rod is just the target MLB has chosen to crucify because his public persona is so s***** that it's easy to sway public opinion against him. He took roids, HGH, he admitted to it back in his days with Texas, the same way Pettitte admitted to using HGH with the Yankees. Sure, he probably used again with the whole biogenesis thing, but the way MLB is chasing him down, and doing it publicly, I don't blame him one bit for firing back with everything he's got in order to protect the 100 million left on his contract that the Yankees would really love to get off the books, and would only be too happy to throw him under the bus in order for that to happen.
