G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Random football related vent. Turns out I f***ing hate playing offensive line. One of the most thankless jobs in all of sports. Put your ass on the line and get pummelled trying to protect some obnoxious QB. LOL. Sorry man.

But oh my god what a boring job. At least on D-line you have an objective. On O-Line it's just line up, adjust your helmet because you can't see out of it, and slowly get pushed back or forward little by little, at most 3 feet, until the play is done. Sooooooo boringgggggggg.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I was obviously just joking/generalizing about a high school QB being a prick. But LOLed that your backup QB is exactly that.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Woman Who Took Jerry Jones Pics Files Lawsuit Alleging Sexual Assault Slimy as f***. Lol how ironic this comes out at this time? Strike the iron while its hot. The NFL is in a lose lose situation here and I love it. Suspend him because of bad personal conduct and you look like idiots because of how you dealt with the Ray Rice situation. Don't suspend him and your PR image is going to look like s*** because you are not punishing an Owner of the most wealthy team.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Their best bet is to give him a similarly sized punishment so that they can at least claim consistency. I guess. Awful situation, lol.

NFL's pr image was already s*** and they still rake in billions every year. This isn't going to damage them one bit.

This isn't going to damage them one bit. I agree. The only way to truly force the NFL to make changes and hold people accountable is for the public to abstain from anything NFL related, which won't happen. Another thing which I really wish would happen is for someone like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady to come out and say until this situation is dealt with you won't play. I can bet you that will get the NFL's attention alright. Much like what the stars did for the Donald Sterling Case in the NBA.

Not it won't but don't deny us our pleasure in seeing the NFL embarassed. It makes it easier to live with the shame of supporting it.

Every year there's a major pr nightmare, whether it's concussions, replacement refs, or former players blowing their heads off, it doesn't matter. North America is just too addicted to the NFL.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Besides the Government the NFL probably has the most power in the US.

I'm not dumb enough to think my personal boycott is meaningfull but I don't want to feel like a hypocrite and to be honest, I'm starting to find the violence of it more repulsive than entertaining. I find the sport increasingly gross both on and off the field and I'm done watching.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 A nice little week for my Eagles; a storm back win and a loss from everyone else.

There was an E60 last night of how many sexual assault cases go unreported in the military because the females that have reported it get discharged a year later.

Sexual assault has nothing to do with it. The brain damage to the players is what has turned me off to the NFL. Watching the NFL makes me feel like I'm watching Christians being delivered to the Lions. I don't want my entertainment to come at the extreme cost that the players pay (despite the fact that they are financially compensated). I wouldn't watch pro wrestling for the same reason. I don't want people killing themselves for my entertainment dollar.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 He has to be suspended for the rest of the season for this, no? Hell, there should be jail time of at least a year min.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 The word "switch" means nothing to me in this context. What are we talking about exactly?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 The Vikings have already pulled him from Sundays game, who knows? I can see Peterson never being allowed back into the league. Hitting a child might be the crime you can commit. Teams will be scared about the public's perception even though he is a star player. Sick f*** deserves 5 years in prison.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 None of you guys got belted as kids? Jesus Christ, kids now are given time outs and all that, none of which works and a big reason for why the next generation are so f***ed up. No one keeps their kid in line anymore. I understand that leaving visible cuts on your kid is not good but we don't really know anything aside from that.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I think he went a bit far. Community service + anger management/parenting classes far? Yes. 5 years in prison far? No. It really just seems like he was spanking his kid and went a little far and didn't realize it. *based on what we know so far

It is possible to establish the idea of facing consequences for actions without resorting to physical means. Timeouts are pretty useless, if that's the extent of the punishment. A grown man hitting a child is indefensible in my opinion.
