G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Speaking of whom... Snider .607 OPS this year for Pittsburgh. But he could get a WS ring. That would be something.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Adams, Cooper, JPA, Snider, Phelps, Hinske, Hill, Lind So many disappointments. Yep. Here's hoping the pitching (especially Sanchez, Osuna, Stroman) stick.
Caper Verified Member Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Adams, Cooper, JPA, Snider, Phelps, Hinske, Hill, Lind So many disappointments. Cooper got better and better every time he came up...
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Lol,nice. I'm still going to stand by my assessment that Goins will hit enough to be on the 25 man. We'll see.. As a 25th man, sure. Adams, Cooper, JPA, Snider, Phelps, Hinske, Hill, Lind So many disappointments. Purcey
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Cooper got better and better every time he came up... Till his back broke
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Adams, Cooper, JPA, Snider, Phelps, Hinske, Hill, Lind So many disappointments. At least Hill has had success elsewhere
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Adams, Cooper, JPA, Snider, Phelps, Hinske, Hill, Lind So many disappointments. I would remove Hill from that list. FDM
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Based on what? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA again?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 At least Hill has had success elsewhere He had some success as a Jay too. He was nearly a 4 win player in 2009 before everything went to hell. Got concussed and forgot how to hit.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Hill's success in Arizona coupled with our black hole at 2B makes his case all the more painful. Coupled with Hill's replacement providing not great but still way better than what Toronto got production for the Rays.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Loved Aaron Hill. Still have angry Jay white Hill 2 and an All Star BP Hill 2 jerseys.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Still waiting.... If you want his answer, go back and read the last 47 pages lol
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Adams, Cooper, JPA, Snider, Phelps, Hinske, Hill, Lind So many disappointments. Man I remember Josh Phelps. That dude had some serious pop in his bat. Too bad it never worked out.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 It won't. I'm obviously going to bump it when Goins goes 0-4 tonight. ftfy
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Yup. He had monster power. I remember when he came up mid-season for his rookie year (2003?) he absolutely tore the cover off the ball and hit some towering shots. What ever happened to him anyway? I always thought his bat played at DH but he just kind of disappeared. He went back to catching after awhile and stuck around as a backup. He was a lot like Arrencibia, not really good enough at the position but not enough bat to play anywhere else.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 It won't. I'm obviously going to bump it it Goins goes 0-4 tonight. You know this beacause....................? BTW, Goins isn't starting tonight.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 BTW, Goins isn't starting tonight. Even better bump material
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I just looked him up. 112 career wRC+. He had a 138 wRC+ in 183 PA in 2007, then less than 100 pro PA later he was out of baseball. There had to have been injury issues in there. I think this was a guy that Kirk had some off field info on. He could have been a DH or 1B platoon against lefties at any point in his career, he never really had injury issues, so their was something else going on.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 It's not the Goins he's worried about but the coming.
JSFIP Verified Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Tell that to Gruber, he blows his load over Goins 90 wrc+ in AAA
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Jesus ever living f*** people.... 48 pages on an org guy. Everyone ban yourselves immediately How many pages of it are "King" posting garbage one and two liners or "BTS" etc writing off Goins in a repetitive manner ? The most unrealistic aspect of the whole discussion was the idea that Goins could never become of major league starter. It might not be a likely result but its not an impossible result. The most telling post is from "BTS", stating that John MacDonald has never earned a roster spot. And yet he's had a long career because he can backup several positions effectively. He allows teams some flexibility on their bench and they aren't too worried using him as a late inning replacement. So its easy to see what might occur here. If he doesn't make it, these posters will bring it up repeatably for years. If he does make it, they'll say major league GMs are stupid to play him. In the unlikely event that he not only makes it but exceeds expectations wildly, they'll try to pretend it never happened. For Goins himself, its all irrelevant, his job is to try to maximize his service in the majors, and if he fails he'll move on. I admire the poise he's played with given that he's fighting for his career right now. Much more admirable then the posters who think their job is to discredit his chances to an outrageous level, and repeat it dozens of times.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Gear grinder: when people put "" around usernames. So f***ing annoying.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 77 wRC+ for Goins now, thank f***. lol

It's tough to go against the hivemind, and no one will probably read this, but you should.
