Are you feeling ok bro? You've done a lot of laughing and very little rational thinking.

Your asking me if Goins would of made those clutch hits that Kawasaki made when he's only played 9 games. Now who's not thinking rationally?

Updated this thread. I'll add the arencibia quits twitter thread and the JSFIP thread about how walks are over overrated. And if you have more that would be great

The pitching stat thread where the guy tried to make a stat and it turned into a SABR war.

You're asking me if Kawasaki would have made two specific plays. I asked you if Goins would make two specific plays. You can point to those plays as evidence Goins has a stronger arm than Kawasaki which, I think everyone here would agree with. You can't say he is a better defender all around because he does one thing better.

Furthermore, the arm of a 2B is the least valuable tool at that position. Before I hear "hahaha", I;d like to know what tool you feel is less valuable; speed? hitting for average? power? fielding?

We all know range, hands and footwork is what makes 2B D, a strong arm is a bonus. Kawasaki's arm isn't so bad that he can't make most plays, sure he wont make a couple that Goins would over a course of a season, that's about the end of it. Yet, Kawasaki has shown and proven that he has above average hands, range and footwork all over the infield. There is no way that after 9 games you can say Goins and his superior arm is the better all around defensive package. Additionally it's pretty obvious that Kawasaki is the better hitter today. Perhaps Goins will be better in the future but, that time isn't now.

Posted. Also, the Arencibia Quits Twitter thread, and the WALKS ARE OVERRATED thread

Omg, I remember the Kawasaki melt down. KAWAAAAAA

There is not much better than Gordies meltdown in the Kawasaki demoted thread

I would argue that this is just as good

How about when fatcow went berserk when he found out Reyes got injured. I'll see if I can find it

Think that might have been old board. Vanland was telling us all about how it may be career ending IIRC.

Man there are so many great ones from the old board. Remember that one where everyone made those animated talking head videos. The ECJF and Greinke one hahaha

There has been three plays in only 9 games so far. How do you think this translates over the course of a full season?

Goins is better at all of these. He's proven this in his minor league numbers in comparison to Kawasaki's and he's on his way in proving it in the bigs. Go check the stats.

And you've resorted to making things up. Have a nice evening.

I approve, especially because you left the Kalfue thread off.

Needs more "fire AA" thread.

In before your posse comes to defend you.

The Kalfus thread will be gold when he fizzles out in AAA.

If you are comparing Kawasakis minor league stats to Goins, Kawasaki murders Goins. It's not even close. He destroyed Japan pitching

Meh, i hate using Japan league stats as a comparison, but i do respect them. Goins has hit everywhere in the MilB,except for this year in Buffalo. Same thing can be said for Kawasaki's last year in Japan,in Seattle and now this year in Buffalo. Goins led the league in hits in the Eastern League in 2012.

Reported.

Whatever happened to TwistedLogic? Decent poster for the time he was here. But he wasn't here for long. And then he stopped posting.

Stopped posting when I disappeared. Probably a coincidence. Damn shame, he was a really funny dude.

You seriously think Kawasaki is a better option at 2B? For real? That statement is just as ludicrous as the way you would perceive the notion of Goins being the starting second baseman,if not worse.

Yeah. Neither may be capable of hitting over .250 in the bigs, but Goins looks like a much better defender, looks faster (? true) and is younger and cheaper. I'd like to keep both in the organization, but one needs to play in Buffalo.

Careful, you may get castrated for making such an irresponsible notion that Goins is a better defender than Kawasaki based on 9 games in the bigs.

theblujay i think summed it up pretty nicely about 5 pages or so back, the only difference between everyone here is that half wants him given a chance while the other half think they know what they have in Goins and move on.

This is pretty f***ing retarded. Goins had a 90 wRC+ in AAA as a 25 year old, he's not going to get any better with the bat. He's not a good hitter. So far, in 9 or whatever games he has played, he has apparently looked above average defensively. Okay great. He shouldn't be starting on this team next season, he's an org guy. He's getting his chance right now, and he's going to BABIP his way to a .300+ average September, and be penciled in as starter next season. He's going to fail next season and we will be stuck with another year of a blackhole at 2B. Thames situation all over again.

I could say the same thing about Kalfus.

Posted

Goins at A- back in 2009 had 114 wRC+, avg .297, obp .349 and babip .385

Kalfus at A- this year had 111 wRC+, avg .272, obp .354 and babip .345

Posted
Complete small sample size. Goins only had 24 games played, to Kalfus 62.

My point is that you can play the stats game in many different ways, if Goins is an org guy then so is Kalfus, at this time it's impossible to prove otherwise.

Posted
Are you f***ing retarded? Like why are you comparing Goins, a 25 year old shortstop just making the MLB, to Kalfus, a 22 year old OF still in Short season ball? It makes no f***ing sense to compare the two.

Sure it does, i compared their first year in A- ball.
