Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Cleaning up today bro!! And I was happy with my 4 points for lawrie
Tuco Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 the problem is that everyone picked Ed. lol Jose is such a pouting sack of s***. he needs a swift kick in the ass Why dont we just trade him instead?
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Jose is such a pouting sack of s***. he needs a swift kick in the ass I really hope Texas is actually dumb enough to give us Profar for that loser.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Exactly, they're doing it right. The more pain, the more gain. In all things in life. Lol no, most casual fans aren't into prospects or aware of farm systems, a truly awful team like the 'Stros can only lose fans playing like this, unless marketing has done a REALLY good job promoting the farm system.
Howard Roark Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Bautista's jelious You caught that too, eh? Those shots in the dugout right after when Edwin was sat next to him, he looked pissed. After Edwin's curtain call you could even catch the tail-end of a "OMG wtf ever, you kidding me?!" eye-rolling soundless tantrum from him as Edwin sat back down next to him on the bench. Edit: just read through the last 2 pages, everyone else noticed too. Hah, what a selfish ****. Trade his ass. Profar plz.
Tuco Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I really hope Texas is actually dumb enough to give us Profar for that loser. Bautista seems like he cares more about personal stats and individual success rather then the Jays actually winning games.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Our team has the worst personalities going.. Bautista, JP, Lawrie, Rasmus, Oliver, prob mb and his dogs.. what a mess
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Our team has the worst personalities going.. Bautista, JP, Lawrie, Rasmus, Oliver, prob mb and his dogs.. what a mess Why are Rasmus and Oliver problems? Rasmus is a red-neck but is basically harmless (only his dad is the crazy one) and Oliver is a vetrin. Plus, people love to see Lawrie's passion for the game, as do I. Fans appreciate players that go all out.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Stroman and Hollon will change that Stroman is all about Stroman.... he'll fit right in.

BS in my opinion.. he would have been gone if I was coaching a "winning" team.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Bautista did start the AS game... so he has that... what a selfish man though, cheer for your teammates idiot.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Rasmus is hitting .274, has more doubles than he did all of last year, OPS is like .810 with plus D and power from CF. He shuts his mouth and does his job, totally good with him

I think Rasmus just doesn't appear to hustle, he plays a very smooth looking game which looks effortless at times and this gives the impression that maybe he's not going all out on the field. I don't take much issue with Oliver, yes he asked for more or he would retire, love for the game yada yada, but still any player on his last year would probably also ask for more.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Lol no, most casual fans aren't into prospects or aware of farm systems I can't stand this argument against tanking in particular. Explain to me why the casual fans should matter at all in the process of building a team. It's not like they'd show up if the Astros had an expensive losing team with big names like we do. The only thing that is almost guaranteed to sell tickets is a consistent winner, and that's what Houston is trying to create down the road by building through the draft and the system now.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 It would of been nice of somebody on the team like Reyes walked by Bautista and slapped him really hard in the face - I think that would get the point across and then some.

My argument was never against tanking, I was responding to someone saying: "The more pain, the more gain. In all things in life." For example teams like Texas didn't put out awful ballclubs year-to-year while they developed their farm system, the same with the Cardinals. Really has nothing to do with what you're saying.

In hockey some big forwards are so smooth that people think they aren't fast or trying hard...Rasmus runs so effortlessly that he may appear to be loafing..but he is really going all out... a remarkable athlete.

FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 i can't believe you toe-rags are bitching on Joey Bats with his contract? If we move him for better value sure, but you can't complain about his production to value? Nimrods! His production is declining (his OBP, OPS, wOBA, wRC+, and walk percentage are all trending downward since 2011) and his attitude is atrocious.

The only thing that is almost guaranteed to sell tickets is a consistent winner, and that's what Houston is trying to create down the road by building through the draft and the system now. We abandoned the "perpetual contention" through maintaining an elite farm plan that Alex laid out and was following until 8 months ago, so that they could sell more tickets to people who had never followed baseball before. It was rage-inducing to encounter people at work/socially who were suddenly talking about the Jays/wearing Jays merchandise because of all the fawning press they were receiving due to "bringing in big names". You run a club whose first priority is creating buzz with the casuals, this is what you get. So much righteous vengeance being heaped upon this franchise's head by the baseball gods it's not even funny. So much rightfully deserved suffering, it's almost enjoyable to me. I hope Beeston pops a couple of hemorrhoids over this s***, and the resulting septicemia goes to his brain. f***ing incompetent twat.

Many teams would love to add Bautista to their line up. Hell, the Yankees have made a history of signing vet slugging stars who are for one reason or another are disliked. He's the kind of guy who could put up 4 or 5 more good years. Hard to take the board seriously when Bautista is signed at $14M per season several seasons and Johnson with his almost 6 era and 1 win is supposed to be a bargain at the same price. I guess if we lost Bautista the production would supposably come from Melky and his warning track power ? That's whst $8M gets these days I guess.

Good, let his selfish ass become some other team's problem. I'd gladly fleece them out of some of their top prospects in return for him.

Still you only see numbers, and no perspective. He's hit in the two spot too much, and his walks two years ago involved a fair number of intentional situations. Last year, he got injured. Here's my prediction. The numeric trend will end in 2014. Let's see. If it does will you promise to stop these posts ?
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Yes, Joey Bats is worth large on the market or a ballplayer on our club, it needs to make sense regardless, I'll hold on unless it makes perfect sense. It should be interesting to see how EE and Joey Bats do the next 5 years. My guess is EE will hit the wall ( a significant drop off in production ) sooner. Hopefully not for a few years anyways. If they want to do something dramatic, I'd rather they keep these guys and go hard for somebody like Cano. Have a super strong batting line up and just hope enough of the starters rebound to cobble together 5 somewhat reliable guys. I'm envisioning you tell Cecil and McGowan to prepare spring training for starting, just have 4 or 5 guys trying out and maybe you get lucky and find another Rogers. Dickey/Buerhle/Rogers/Happ/? with Cecil being best bet. Any of the injured guys can pitch its even better. Romero, who knows ? If not Cano ( may be impractical but dream big ), you bring in a couple of lesser hitters that upgrade you at LF/DH/2B. Catcher I'd just go for defensive excellence or go with a bridge guy like Buck for a year. So while better starters sounds like a good idea, maybe there just aren't guys out there. So address the hitting and hope somebody steps up on the starting staff. Wouldn't surprise me if somebody does, lot of maybe's that are better then extreme long shots. btw Note I left Johnson out. That's my bias. I'd like to move him.
