fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 This time last year we were 42-43 This year we are 41-44 Last year we had an emergence of young starters and EE, and an injury plague that wiped us out, along with a top 5 farm system This year we have really nothing 'special' infact the only positive surprise might be Kawazaki and Rogers as a starter. No farm to speak of, and backloaded contracts are on the team, which I might add is the oldest team in the Majors. Did I mention that most of the team's contracts are expiring by 2016? I have changed my attitude completely about this team and favor a blowup and rebuilding of the team. I'm not saying that I have given up on the Jays, if anything as a fan I have given them a second chance and a pass on the so called "chosen season". I just feel like the risk is greater if we go forward with this team than just scrapping and rebuilding for contention in 2-3 years, but that's just me. So should #Blowup2013 be a thing?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 We're basically the Phillies but didn't win a World Series (or even make the playoffs lol) to justify the situation. With AA staring as Ruben Amaro Jr. ugh
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 there was at least optimism for a young improving team last year with some A level prospects in the system.. this year we have an old team with no hope for the future. Not a good place to be. Rebuild is imminent.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 It actually does remind me of the Phillies. It's ironic, back on the old board we used to laugh at the Phillies for their trades and thinking that they are competitive, and blasting Amaro Jr. as much as we could Now I wonder if other fans see us as we saw the Phillies? Throwing prospects and money into the fire!

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Actually I'm not that shocked. Last year ended bad but that was mostly a terrible August and early September. They were still over .500 in the last weekend of July.
Errorcebia Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 The whole organization needs to be gutted, top to bottom. It's been years, if not decades since we produced some legit major league players from our own system.
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 You guys do get that this team is yet to play one single game with its entire projected opening day lineup right? Before July is over we should finally see: Reyes Cabrera Bautista Encarnacion Lind Lawrie Rasmus Arencibia Izturis Like to see how they do before anything gets torn up.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 ... I will enter a state of heavy meditation during the AS break and decide our fate, I'll be sure to let Alex know my decision.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I will enter a state of heavy intoxication during the AS break and decide our fate, I'll be sure to let Alex know my decision. Fixed that for you.

I am hopeful that the team will play better in the second half with the return of Lawrie &Melky & Morrow. Jays have a good chance of winning 80 plus games.

Durability can be projected, to a certain degree.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 It actually does remind me of the Phillies. Unlikable teams with dumb people running the FO and a huge payroll? Seems dead on.
