Why does DeMar insist on taking so many low percentage shots game in and game out? It's beyond frustrating.

Lol pathetic last few minutes. f*** man I thought we were really going to quit that ********. Every single offensive possession was iso ball.

That's all he can do. And he, along with a s***** playcall from Casey (shocking) cost the raps the game.

I can't take it any longer; iso ball is horribly inefficient. Casey needs to go.

Also Ibaka fully went butterfingers on what was an easy putback layup for the win.

Maybe, but the loss is not on his shoulders. Just because he couldn't make up for every other failure in the last 2 minutes ...

Without Irving and Hayward and they still cant beat the Celtics. Get ready for another 2nd round playoff exit

Yeah, he tried to shoot it before he caught it.

Great play by VanVleet to get the offensive foul call though!

I was so mad that VanVleet was closing out the game for no apparent reason since he really doesn't contribute anything on offense, specially not in an end of game scenario, but then that happened lol.

Worst part is all 3 of Casey, Lowry and Derozan said after the game that they liked those shots. I'm sure Masai isn't happy.

I don't have a problem with Demar taking the final shot, but it's gotta be a better shot and setup than that. Everyone is the NBA knows he does the fake to his ball hand side then the turn around fade away garbage.

Even Leo "everything Derozan does is right" Rautins pointed out the easy lane drive he passed up on the final possession when he first caught the ball and his defender out of position to stop it. But instead he waited, let him get set, and did the Derozan special, inevitably resulting in a miss.

They're never going to learn which is the most frustrating part. You just lost to a team which was missing their best 2 players playing the same style of ball you swore you were getting away from and rather than any self reflection, it's the same "hur durr..we just missed shots"

I also love the 11 man rotation..always thinking outside the box that Casey. He just finds ways to be inefficient in every f***ing aspect of the game

Anunoby is going to be really f***ing good one day very soon

Like right now?

How did this guy last until pick 23? He's sick.

The Raptors seem to have unreal depth this year. Can't remember a team like this.

Not even 100% yet and he's showing like a beast.

Now if Bruno develops into a starter... look out

First line: Ogugua "OG" Anunoby Jr. (born July 17, 1997) is a Nigerian professional basketball player for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association and is currently the greatest player in the world.

Masai has really done a great job of drafting and developing. Even outside OG, Delon looks like he could be an above average starter, same with Powell and Poertle. Even Siakam was great value where he was taken.

I'm not sure about above average starter for Delon, but he's already a very capable backup who can defend really well. Maybe if he takes that next step mentally and starts to look for his offence rather than deferring to others all the time he will step into starting territory.

But your overall point is well made, the last few years of drafting and development have been top notch for a team that hasn't been picking anywhere near the top half of the draft. Getting their own g league team was essential for that.they wasted 2 years of Bruno's development having him rostered on another team that had no interest in developing him

I think the X factor with Delon is the 3 point shot and like you said his agressiveness. Its obvious he can be a good defender with his length and his ability to drive to the rim and finish/dish is very good.

He's shooting above 95% from the line so you would think he should be able to shoot the 3 at an average clip. Although his percentages would go down with him facing starters instead of the bench units he's usually facing.

I'm pretty excited with this Raps group. They really do need to make a trade though as they have 11 players deserving to be in the rotation but its too many. JV would be the most obvious choice but I don't think any teams want to take on the contract/give anything up.

I actually kind of like having JV. He brings another dimension none of the other bigs do. It's kind of a shame we don't utilize him more.

The line between starter and backup is fading in basketball. It's about having a certain skill set now...and how that skill set works with your teammates. San Antonio has (or had) players that almost never play together.

What dimension is that though? Not being sarcastic, I just dont see it. He isn't good defensively, he's okay at rebounding for a big... not great offensively or a good shot blocker for his size, really his best attribute is his free throw shooting.

Part of me also hates him for constantly bellowing whenever he gets brushed by anyone going to the rim.

JV is a good rebounder but that's about it. His lack of defensive ability in rotating and the PnR just drags his value down too much. Everyone has waited for him to take the next step but he basically is what he is at this point.

Him and Ibaka are also terrible together so something has to give.

He's able to hold position near the rim, and is almost impossible to post up against. None of the other bigs can really do that. Poertl is great at rebounding because of his positioning, and Babe at blocking, but neither really have the physical presence. JV is NOT good against a really mobile big though.

Regarding Ibaka, I have to think we wouldn't have signed him if we had known how good the young players were going to be.

He also gives us that inside, more traditional scoring threat. I think he's under-utilized in that role.

I've noticed this as well but it's to much to ask of Casey to put 1 on the bench.

Really the rotation should be

Lowry/Wright

Demar/Powell

OG/Miles

Ibaka/Siakam

Poetrl/ JV

GH going down for the year for Boston probably will make them a better team in the end; allowing the younger guys to develop. When they get GH back next year, it'll be a scary squad

I don't think you can really move JV to the bench at this point he's been a starter for too long. That's why its best off trading him.

He's good against more traditional Centres but outside New Orleans there really aren't any. And he's a net negative in that he gets exploited on the defensive end more than he is a positive on the offensive end against smaller lineups.
