G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Wow have things ever changed Rogers? Wang? Wow, who saw that coming? And will they last? JJ? What a turnaround Happ? very good then hurt Here's the bottom line for this thread... No one knows what will happen over the next few months, but make your best prediction as to who will be in the starting 5 come Sept. 1. Choose 5 from this list or propose another Dickey Johnson Buerle Morrow Happ Romero Wang Rogers Hutchison Drabek Edited June 19, 2013 by G-Snarls
TRM Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey Johnson Buehrle Morrow (My write in vote) Happ
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey Johnson Buehrle Morrow (My write in vote) Happ Haha missed Morrow. Was in hurry. The car I was test driving wouldn't start in my work parking lot and the roadside assistance people called as I was typing. Hahaha.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Damn... that's tough. Dickey Buehrle Morrow Rogers Hutchison
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Didn't you guys get the memo, Morrow is hurt?
TRM Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Didn't you guys get the memo, Morrow is hurt? Good thing it's not September
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Good thing it's not September I hope he's back before then, but the way his velocity was up and down earlier in the year, it makes me think he's got a more serious injury. I hope it's minor for sure.
Buster Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 More importantly.....predict the October rotation.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 This is too tough. Gotta figure Dickey, Beuhrle, and JJ are locks. I think Wang can be moved to the BP as a long man. Have to say I'm a Rogers believer. Hutch and Drabek I think you can justify keeping in the minors to get their crap together. Happs recovering from a serious head injury, so you can afford to be "extra cautious" with him. Romero? I don't even know what to say if he keeps it up. I guess my prediction would be: ROTATION Dickey JJ Beurhle Morrow Rogers OTHERS Happ (cautious approach, get him ready for 2014) Romero (???) Wang (long man) Hutchison (minors) Drabek (minors)
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey, JJ, Buehrle, Morrow, Wang

backontop Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey, Johnson, Buehlre, Wang, Rogers.............Morrow because its the 21st century and you can't be set on a sure FIVE anymore. Morrow for back up just in case, BTW people forget about Drabek. He's only Dougs son, maby he could be our bat boy, but if it was up to me, DL dudes would be the bat and ball boys.

KSaw Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I think that we can all just assume Drabek will not be in the mix no matter what. Over 75% of starting pitchers who return from having 2 Tommy John Surgeries do so as relievers and fewer than 5% start during their first year back from the second operation. You simply don't stretch out guys to start this early after 2 TJS, if ever.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Who knows with injuries. I wouldn't be shocked to see Stroman get September starts.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Wang is a goner plain and simple. Dickey, JJ, Buehrle, Morrow and Stroman
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 cliff lee esmil rogers r.a. Dickey josh johnson marcus stroman Buhrele flipped once we land Cliff Lee .... Morrow either hurt or used in Lee trade .... wang flamed out
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Who knows with injuries. I wouldn't be shocked to see Stroman get September starts. Very true, he's gotta be near the top of the depth chart now I'd think. A full year starting in the minors is probably best for him tho isn't it? Could he be in the mix to crack the rotation next spring?
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey Verlander Kershaw Darvish Johnson Oh, dreams. Seriously though... Dickey Johnson Buerhle Wang Morrow or Rogers If Morrow is back from injury, the spot is his...I don't think Rogers can keep this up. Hope he does, but I don't think he will and he'll end up a good reliever.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 No one knows what will happen No one knows what will happen**?? Never. If you don't know what will happen then your scouting and stats skills aren't up to par. Learn to scout better. Learn even more advance stats. Invent them if you have to. (Between you and me no one knows what will happen.... but we need to pretend we know)
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Nobody knows I think if we continue to win then I think that we stay the course with what we have. If injuries pop up I would not be surprised to see Hutch/Romero up come Sept. If we fall out of contention again I think that you will see MB and JJ shipped off and we will see Stroman. It all depends on what happens.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey Johnson Buehrle Stroman Romero Wang, Rogers both regress, get released/put in bullpen Happ is done after a setback Morrow, TJ
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Dickey Johnson Buehrle Stroman Romero So in other words, last place.
admin Site Manager Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Tough call. I can't see them not giving Romero another chance. Can he stay up, who knows. I can see JJ hitting the DL again. Wouldn't surprise me to see Rogers fall off. Everything from here on out is a bonus. Wang has only made two starts, who knows what he does over the next five starts.

The interesting part is that Wang and Rogers have both looked good. It would be foolish to expect both will continue like this, but it might not be so foolish to think one or both may stick as decent 4/5 types. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. As of right now the rotation seems like it is in decent shape and we have Happ working his way back.
