Is the BP rested enough to consider yanking RAD if he sturggles early today?

Wang goes 7, PPD game, Rogers goes 7, Buehrle goes 7. They should be good to go.

I agree we need Dickey to come up big today, feels like today could send us on a big run or back to what it's been like all season.

Glad you pointed that out, no sense throwing Dickey out there over and over when we have Cy Wang sitting there ready to throw CG shutouts every outing.

All I'm saying is we are getting in dangerous territory while we wait for R A to find his "groove". Almost half the season in the books.

Not a CG shutout today by any stretch but not a bad outing. Got outs when he needed to.

Yeah. I think there were a couple 10 pitch at-bats that ran up his pitch count. Otherwise, he probably would have been able to go 7 innings.

Everything else is looking good right now

Hitting, bullpen especially, but even the defence is looking decent right now.

The other AL East teams are stalling, especially the Yankees Red Sox and Rays.

We finally broke through the 7 games under .500 barrier. You feel like we COULD be on the verge of a run. But you know what they say about momentum in baseball...

Well, today's starter is none other than reigning Cy Young winner Dickey, a guy who has had what, 2 quality starts for us so far? If EVER there was a time we needed him to step up, this is it. If he goes out and throws a great game, we ride the momentum. If he goes out and sucks, gives up 5-6 runs right away, all the air comes out of the balloon very quickly.

What's it going to be? Can't wait to find out.

Agreed. Dickey needs to shut it down tomorrow

I'm seeing him today and I have decent enough luck (see him weirdly often and only one legit blowup against a good offense, I forget who). Really hoping for a good outing.

Enjoy the game. Sucks you don't get to see Price though.

I know. :(

But tulo and martin got days off yesterday, not today, so that should mean they're in the lineup which really balances things out. I think I've missed Martin twice this year.

Still a terrible decision to use Dickey. Price just had 11 days rest and is a veteran rental. Pitch him FFS.

For the most part, I agree.

Of course, if Dickey is doing well, you pitch him for 4/5 and handover to Price.

Dickey effect to it's finest.

If Dickey is cruising do you still yank him after 4/5 just cause?

Yes, statistically no matter how good the pitcher the third time through the order they are far more likely to get hit hard. Going from Dickey's knuckleball to Price's 96 mph on the corners could be a lethal combination and I'm very much looking forward for this to happen.

Yeah. Texas has to face a fresh Price, slightly boosted by the Dickey Effect.

^ this! But it's not going to happen so let's hope RA is solid and if Price comes in, he is dealing and benefits from the Dickey effect.

I don't think you can make that call the day before. If the Jays light up Holland and have a 10-0 lead through 5, you're not gonna go to Price just cause.

If Dickey is just mowing them down and looks lights out I have a short leash, but I'm not going to Price...not unless I need to.

If things are going well I leave Dickey in there and if I don't need Price or Stroman, I don't use them...It would be nice to have them both ready for Game 5 should it play out.

It is going to depend on the score. Maybe the Blue Jays will be up by 5 or 6 runs by the 6th inning and the Blue Jays can use their usual bullpen. Then both Price and Stroman would be available for the 5th game. They could start Stroman and have Price as their left-handed reliever in game 5.

I think it is a good call by Gibbons to go with Dickey. Colabello has come through for the Blue Jays in the last 2 games when many doubted him, Navarro came through tonight behind the plate and in the batters box, Estrada pitched a great game tonight and Dickey can come through tomorrow the way he has been doing since the All Star break.

Derek Holland isn't that good, I hope the Jays can play within themselves like they did last night, take what the pitcher gives you, take walks, hit singles and doubles and bring this back home to Toronto. If Dickey gives up 3 runs in the first 2 innings he has to be yanked right then and there though.
