So not counting 2013, something like:

2.5 WAR

3.25 WAR

3.5 WAR

3.75 WAR

4 WAR

For, let's say, 24 million total.

vs. Bautista's:

4 WAR

3.5 WAR

3 WAR

for 42 million.

Seems like a no-brainer. And recognizing that in any given season, both of them have crazy 6+ win upside, Profar gives you two more D20 rolls at benefiting from such years.

Texas will not trade Profar for Bautista. Profar will only be trade for elite, durable and cheap talent as him, something like "STANTON"

Posted
WHy would Texas even want to trade Profar, just move Kinsler for a SP to a contending team like the A's that need a 2b

Right, like they're going to trade him to a divisional rival.

Stanton hasn't exactly been the shining image of durability himself lol.

He's 23 lol

Injured for decent periods of time this year and last. Hopefully he'll stop missing games but it isn't that much of a worry going forward I don't think

Who cares where goes if it improves the club. You're also taking away from their team

The A's can't afford Kinsler

im sure im the only one but i think this would be an idiotic trade that makes no sense for right now... people who would argue would make good crackheads because your just chasing a quick high

Trading a veteran for a young player who's ready to contribute when you're out of contention makes no sense?

So will Profar. And whoever earns the $14 million owed to Bautista.

Flip Bautista for Profar.

Bautista is a big downgrade to a Gose/Rasmus+someone platoon (Maybe -3 WAR or more), but Profar is probably just as big of an upgrade at 2B over Mouser/Bonehead. Profar the better asset and long term piece by far.

With the 14M in yearly savings, sign Brian McCann.

Trade JPA for depth pitching. Some team might maybe give up a Happ type arm, with options.

Massive profits!

profar i doubt is going to be a rbi machine

WHAT IS THIS CREATURE lol

i could go on for an hour about why this is a bad idea but it should be pretty clear its not in the teams best interest and to all that think that losing the 14m contract is a good thing do you wonder how much revenue bautista is resposible for???

Yeah, I don't follow.

I thoroughly enjoy this idea.

Profar is ready to turn into a star now. He is in Robinson Cano's catagory. Great second basemen like Pete Rose, Cano and Profar are hard to find unlike outfielders. It was only in the steroid era that shortstops and second basemen became power hitters. Great second basemen who could hit were around from 1867 to the 1990's but THEY WERE RARE! I would make that trade.

why is it so difficult to follow that bautista has sold a lot of tickets for the jays and attracted them a lot of viewship which in turn brings in revenue?

Revenue isn't a problem for the team, though, and I don't think losing Bautista changes that. Rogers is kinda f***ing loaded.

Now now, we cannot compare Profar to Petey Franchise. He is a generational talent, but Rose was a f***ing once a century talent. Profar is gonna be beastly but he ain't getting my Pete Rose crown til he bloody f***ing earns it.

i agree he needs to be fired but i think this roster just could use some tinkering this off season but im not confident aa can do it right

Problem is that this team next year is that there is already ~ $110 million already committed, and that's only with 13 guys. This doesn't include the arbitration eligible players and any signing needed to fill out the roster. There is A LOT of money committed to this team for next year and there just isn't much depth to accomodate for injuries (as we've seen this year) ... something serious need to be done if the team is to keep afloat and flexible.

Lol @ making a second post just to get this moronic comment in. Try to be a little more subtle.

Returning this year's teams sans JJ is $135-140 million.

That includes picking up Lind's option and Rasmus' expected arbitration raise?

Not a chance Rogers lets the Jays float on by with a 140 payroll without some serious postseason success.

I now expect AA to buy out Lind's contract and then re-sign him, saving 1-2M over the two years. He has a knack for such things.

The FA market is pretty awful this year. Pretty much just McCann, Choo, and Garza that interest me as far as full-time players go. We'll probably trade for Ryan Howard or something.

Oh, please stop. You'll give us all nightmares.

This year's FA starting pitching is especially weak though. Almost all of them are either back end guys or injury prone, with a couple wild cards in Halladay and Lincecum. JJ and Garza are probably the best talent, and even they've had plenty of injury issues between them.

Cano doesn't interest you? Ellsbury?

Can't wait until 2014. Ben Zobrist is a must-get.

Yup.

Big $ next year (over 10M) to all of

Reyes

Buerhle

Bautista

Edwin

Dickey

I think someone's gotta go

That is just scary to think about.

Yup.

Unless Rogers opens the wallet a little wider. Then the Jays are sittin' pretty.

Seems kind of unthinkable, but so was a ~130M payroll at this time last year.

Knocking Rasmus and Isturis out would be the same as clipping Eddie's salary.
