GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 No, Hutch threw 149.1 innings in 2011 across 3 levels f***, I misread it. Yeah, then Nolin probably shouldn't be rushed.
Caper Verified Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 f***, I misread it. Yeah, then Nolin probably shouldn't be rushed. Why? If his stuff is MLB ready.... and he's our best option, what's the difference where he throws his 120 innings at?

Because pitching at the MLB level puts a lot more stress on your arm, plus, a lot of guys try to overthrow like Hutch did

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Why? Are the balls heavier in MLB? Oi, the way you ask rhetorical questions really f***ing pisses me off. I'm going to stop talking to you before I do/say something stupid.

My apologies. Don't mean to be flippant.... I just don't necessarily agree. Maybe if they are told to not throw certain pitches in the minors and then have to move to the majors and throw them... then yeah, I can see it being harder on your arm..... Or if you put to much pressure on yourself and try and do too much......... but. If you got a good head on your shoulders, pitching in TO or NH shouldn't affect your arm at all..... the effectiveness of your pitches could be huge. Where he is 23...and the team needs pitching, I don't see a problem with it.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Jesus H Christ, it was tongue in cheek.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 uh wat Hutchison fastball velo in April 2012: 91.88 Hutchison fastball velo in June 2012: 92.99 That's a fairly significant spike in just two months, no?

A ball with the tiniest mark gets thrown out of a Major League game. By the 5th inning of a MiLB game the balls are no better than BP balls for the Majors. An obvious advantage for pitchers.

Thanks, didn't know that.... though is it such an advantage? In MLB it always seems to be the catcher giving the ball to the ump for the exchange.
Caper Verified Member Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Norris seems to be pitching a better game for the lugnuts tonight.

The balls are different as well. Pitchers on rehab starts get to pitch with MLB balls. They are both Rawlings balls but I believe the MILB balls are made in China. I think the MLB balls are made in Costa Rica or something.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 That's odd? A little. You'd think MLB would be able to find a sweatshop a little closer to home. Maybe angrioter has a few dozen cousins that could use some work.
