When Jesse Biddle hits the minor league free agent market I'd love for the Jays to go after him. I saw him pitch in high school and in AA and I really think he'd be an asset to the Jays.

Why would he hit the MLFA market?

He's been with the Phillies for 6 years

I'd think they bring him in to the pen before completely dumping him. He's still put up good numbers against LHB. Only reason they haven't moved him to the pen yet is likely that he's built like a workhorse starter.

Yeah, but Phillie would have him pitch on their team? I doubt they don't protect him from the MILB rule 5 draft.

I guess that's true. My bad. After reading the rules of Minor League free agency he is a couple seasons away from qualifying.

Where did you read this?

Well, he has struggled at Buffalo so I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

So Pompey was demoted to AA?

What a joke.

Furthermore, I guess you agree with his being deomoted after 23 games?

Honestly, would you really be surprised if they demoted him to AA? This bunch brought up 2 guys who had barely pitched at Dunedin, but hey, once a homer always a homer...

Danny Jansen had a 93 wRC+ going into today's game and given he had a 3-4 night with 2 2B and a walk its probably at ~110 right now . That's with a ~.200 BABIP BTW. IMO, he's the best prospect we have in Lansing and he might even be the best Jays prospect after Hoffman.

Easy. Alford is the best prospect. Jansen is good but remember what happens to every jays catching prospect. Just a terrible track record

I like Alford but his numbers are ridiculously BABIP inflated and the lack of a single homerun is a serious red flag. Jansen is a two way catcher who has power and plate discipline, he plays a more premium position, oh and he's also 3/4th of a year younger than Alford.

That's nonsense, there's no such thing as a jinx. Guys like Arencibia were overrated by Jays fans, his lack of plate discipline always made him a guy with extreme bust potential and guess what, he ended up being a bust.

i think i agree with this, but also need to see his defense up close.

Anyone else like that Alford takes all the walks? NFL athleticism, character concerns, baller.

Character issues?

I thought the same thing but then remembered this

That was 3 years ago though, and from what I have seen he seems to be more mature now

Dude got married, can't be running around "wielding [a] gun" with the wife nagging you at home, sweetbrown.gif

I'd say that leaving Ole Miss the week of the Bama game without telling the coaches shows a lack of maturity, but I really don't give a s*** about character issues. He's got talent, and I think the Jays gave him some kind of a 40 man in September guarantee to get him to leave.

how is his defense? I'm not too worried about the lack of power - that can always come later. I like his patience at the plate.
