Seemingly witted? I don't know what that means, so I must not be too witted. Seemingly or otherwise. When you're questioned, or mocked, or even when someone tells a joke and, you, for some reason, chose to take it personally, rather than realizing no harm was meant, don't pull the tough guy routine, puffing your chest with name calling, or cursing at people, or the ever-laughable "is there a problem here?" ... or, even worse still, "I'd love to meet you in real life." It only makes you look worse than the original statement being questioned, mocked or the incidental butt of a joke. If you don't have enough wit to come up with an acceptable come back, just let it go and avoid those situations.

Now, it's up to you whether you're going to be mature enough to take this advice, or if you're going to come back with a dismissive comment, or another in the endless tough guy act that does nothing but hurt your cause, whatever that may be. But enough of this. Either it's going to click and you're going to realize you shouldn't come off as someone so insecure with their manhood, or you're going to continue being you. In other words, settle down, Beavis.

Words can never describe..

I would love to have another Buehrle on a rookie salary but Nolin isn't that. I remember his fastball being pretty flat with not much movement. I just don't think his stuff plays at all in the AL East.

It was his major league debut in that one start, give him a bit more slack.

Yeah I wasn't basing my opinion just on 1 inning of the MLB. His AAA numbers in his career have been underwhelming and he is getting to be pretty old for a prospect.

Aaron Sanchez walked everyone in the minors. Minor league numbers mean nothing. Guys in the minors are working on things and making constant adjustment. Plenty of guys have had medicore minor league careers and went on to have excellent big league careers. I never read into the numbers just the talent.

You just said"Minor league numbers mean nothing". That is probably the dumbest statement I've ever heard. Please give me a list of 10 guys who had mediocre minor league numbers and had excellent MLB careers.

Btw Sanchez is pitching as a reliever in the MLB so take that with a grain of salt.

"Minor league numbers mean nothing." "Xander Bogaerts doesn't want it."

Jonn is literally Joe Morgan.

Last thing we need is another Buehrle, being born in 1989 makes up for poor performance haha

"Bogaerts' batting average shows he doesn't care about anything but the money that got him off the island"

The scary part is that I think he believes what he's saying.

lol keep it up Jonn. You're on a roll.

Gerrit Cole and Matt Harvey had pretty mediocre minor league numbers. More guys than you'd think. Also, Randy Johnson.

Yeah RJ is a good one. I wouldn't say Matt Harvey had mediocre numbers though. He still struck out a ton of guys and his ERA/FIP/SIERA were all all in the low 3s.

Yeah I agree. Who would want to get off Aruba? What a moron Bogaerts would be if what Jonn is saying is true.

Remember when everyone got super mad at you in the BBDL cause you backed up Randy by being semantical? Namely, the Marco Gonzales debacle? And you thought we all hated you?

Yeah, that's what you're doing here.

I still hate myself for Pompeygate. The Gonzales point I stand behind though... the way the rules are written re: time zones run counter to what the commissioners say the rules are.

I don't know what's happening here lol. What I saw is that Jonn trolled for an hour with nobody picking up on it until we did just a few minutes ago.

Lol Pompeygate was funny. And it's the spirit of the rules North, no one gives two shits about time zones lol.

I think it's because most of his posts read like a troll's anyway so we just kinda ignored it. Until the batting average and racism/throwing at heads quips, I figured it was just another night.

Speaking of guys who could be moving to 2B, where has Dwight Smith Jr. gone, injured?

Is the Smith to 2B speculation on your part or was there a rumour somewhere? I think Smith's on the DL, btw.

He's not Buehrle but no one is. He throws it much harder. Needs to mix speeds better and disrupt hitters' timing. He also had decent k rates in the minors so the original premise is flawed.

His numbers in AAA haven't been very good.

What is your benchmark here? His numbers show he has a shot to be a decent backend pitcher. Nothing wrong with that.

Mostly speculation but he's taken reps there in the past (I believe it was extended spring last season) but more so it's a reflection of his skillset. Great hands and his bat plays better up the middle. I've always thought he looked more like an infielder and would love to see him shift and provide the Jays some needed talent at the 4 spot.

I remember reading that Smith was taking reps there during this past spring training and a bit before games.

Yeah it's a move that would make a lot of sense. Not knowing anything about his reflexes/first step means we don't know if he'll actually have good range over there though.

He's a great athlete and has the speed to play CF and steal +20 bases. I don't think range would be an issue and his reflexes definitely wouldn't be (great hands and coordination). Obviously there is a risk he doesn't have the necessary first step. I really don't see it though.

I don't see him being sucessful in Toronto. Doesn't strike out enough guys

He screams a Marlins guy though. Although he doesn't have the groundball rates they desire

Would they give us back Nico for him? ;)

they'll wait for the DFA...or he'll be the 5th throw-in in the Steve Cishek deal

Can anyone post this? Apparently there is something about Osuna in it.

Here you go.

Roberto Osuna, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays (High-A Dunedin)

Osuna threw one inning in a GCL game about three weeks ago and then went off the grid. After speculation spread that he was injured, it was a nice surprise to see him back on the mound in Dunedin this past Friday. The 19-year-old came out firing strikes with his mid- to upper-90s fastball, sitting easily 92-95 while topping out at 96. Not only was the velocity there, but so was the life on the pitch, which had late and heavy run to the arm side. He was moving it to both sides of the plate and for the most part was working lower in the zone, but would run it up and in to right-handed batters. Osuna also had his changeup and slider on display this time out, and both were better than I anticipated. I was expecting more rust and less feel for the off-speed stuff since he was throwing only fastballs when I saw him three weeks ago. The slider was more slurvy, and scouts that I've talked to seem split on whether this pitch was actually a slider or a curveball. Whatever you want to call it, it lacked tight spin and was flat for the most part, although he did mix in a few that showed potential for a future above-average offering. The changeup is what really got my attention. Not only was he able to locate it, but his arm speed remained quick and was able to create lots of deception. Even more impressive was the ability to add and subtract velocity on this pitch. For the most part he had it sitting 81-83, but got it up to 84 while dropping it down to as low as 74. This kind of fluctuation, mixed with with arm speed and command had batters way out front; he would then come right back with heavy 95 heat. It just isn't fair. The mechanics were still smooth and low effort and his body looked good while still sporting that thick lower half. The Blue Jays will continue to ease him back in, but this outing was very encouraging. –Chris King
