Wow quite the matchup in Dunedin. Weaver vs Osuna and Lawrie is playing as well. Sad part is probably 500 people show up with 50 being scouts.

Re: Pompey said on Twitter he was starting tonight so maybe its the 2nd game as there is a DH.

Meh... I've read his velocity has been in the 84-86 MPH range this year, pretty unsexy

Yeah, it was like that last year as well. Not much of a Pro prospect, but they still like his pitch-ability/competitiveness. Good example of "projectable" HS pitchers not always gaining velocity; he was throwing 90+ in HS.

Thats not getting him anywhere. What was his velo when he was drafted? IIRC we took him with a pick in the first few rounds back when there was no bonus limits.

Edit: lol my question got answered as I was typing this out.

DAT weighed ball

Its not weighted-ball related (theres not even any indication that he is on the program). His velocity was highly erratic in HS as well; the hope was that his frame+athleticism would signal growth to consistently throwing 90+. He'd be 84-88 one start and then 89-93 the next...the last two years with the Jays he's been in that 84-87 range.

There was a guy from Seattle who owns a baseball training program and consults for a couple MLB teams as well as Oregon State who has said the weighted ball program is not the best thing for pitchers. I think it had something to do with players screwing with their mechanics.

Interesting becasue a lot of the guys who went on it have declined and had trouble with command this season.. Delabar, Cecil, Santos...

Delabar has a breakout season "Weighted Balls are amazing!"

Delabar has a breakdown season "Weighted Balls ruined him."

I think it's kind of a lose - lose situation, but if it's true what this guy from Seattle is saying then our org. is f***ed, as many pitchers are using the program.

It was f***ed way before the weighted ballz. I don't see how it can make it worse.

Yeah you never really know. It's Driveline Baseball and he only has 5 MLB guys who have worked with him so I'm not sure hoe credible he is. His website looks like it also advocated weighted balls so I am really confused as I was sure I read an article how he didn't like it. He's a big video and saber guy so you never really know.

Pitching is so unpredictable that you never really know who is right.

Kyle Boddy. Has a massive Stroman hard on. Did an AMA on Reddit a few days ago. Seems smart and a pretty solid dude. Shocked no one has hired him. I'd be all over that.

Yup thats his name. Seems like a smart dude and has a good deal of knowledge with mechanics. I wouldn't mind the Jays hiring him as a consultant.

So if Kendall Graveman can pitch well in AAA, we might have something here.

Sean Nolin is being passed on the depth chart (Sanchez, Stroman, Norris, Graveman, Boyd possibly soon)

Wasn't Boyd sent back to high A again?

SIERA of 3.55 in AA, as well.

He's dominated A+ since the beginning of the season. No reason for him to be sent back to there over some scrub like Scott Copeland.

I agree, they should have given him the rest of the month

Is he starting in Dunedin in the Gulf coast league or Dunedin in the Florida State League?

Max Holocaust with another nice night at the plate. A triple and 2 hits.

Seems like he's going to move pretty quickly through the system. Can't wait to see how good this guys D is to after Sal Fas works with him.

I'm glad you find humor in something that killed thousands of innocent people for no reason at all. Disgusting.

Holy s*** dude. I'm not laughing at the Holocaust.

I'm laughing at the auto correct on his phone.

You might have wanted to clear that up to begin with.....it is a sensitive subject
