Is it safe to say these guys are our top 3 southpaws?

1. Norris

2. Smoral

3. Borucki

I'd have Nolin ahead of Smoral or Borucki. Obviously the ceilings are higher, but I'm really biased to a AAA guy than to a rookie ball guy to provide value. As they progress though, they'll pass Nolin easily.

Not a Jays prospect, but Henry Owens, Boston's top pitching prospect, is carving up the Columbus Clippers (which includes top SS prospect Francisco Lindor):

5 IP, 0H, 2BB, 8Ks.

At the rate Buchholz is struggling, could we see him as a September call up in Boston?

For most teams he would have already been in the dleagues.

Most teams don't have 4-5 pitching prospects that are close to or are MLB ready like Boston.

Did you just post something non jays bias or bashing another team? This is a big moment.

Hes probably the best though. Couple of the guys they brought up can't even throw strikes. He will be here soon. He looks like the real deal.

Webster can't throw strikes. Workman and De La Rosa are tough to call, and Ranaudo only has 1 MLB start before he was optioned to AAA.

I don't see him being sucessful in Toronto. Doesn't strike out enough guys

You could be right, but I don't expect him to be a top 3 starter. If he can become a 4 or 5 at league minimum, that would be awesome for a 6th rounder. Same applies to Pillar as a 4th OF.

On the other hand, here are his minor league K numbers:

2010: 21.1-IP, 10-BB, 26-K. This was between the GCL and NYP.

2011: 108.1-IP, 31-BB, 113-K. At Lansing.

2012: 101.1-IP, 27-BB, 108-K. Between Dunedin and New Hampshire.

2013: 110.1-IP, 35-BB, 116-K. Between NH (92.2-IP, 103-K), and Buffalo (17.2-IP, 13-K).

K's have gone down at Buffalo, no doubt, but he's been over a strikeout per inning throughout.

We'll see what happens.

Smoral's final line: 4.1-IP, 1-H, 0-ER, 3-BB, 6-K, 6-GO, 1-FO.

Nice line, except for a few too many bb's. High K types can get away with it a bit more though,as they can K themselves out of trouble.

I think the three walks occurred in his last inning when he kind of lost the zone. Through 3ip he had no walks.

Yeah I'm not ruling anything out but I am just not his biggest fan. Seemed like he carved up the competition as he was older for the lower levels and once he hit AAA his Ks are down and his walks are up a significant margin. Just have to wait and see.

Pillar 3/5 yesterday with 2 doubles. Avg up to .324 . He should be up instead of Gose especially when Gose is not even playing CF half the time.

No Pillar sucks. I would take Gose over him any day of the week.

You really think he sucks?? Looks like Reed Johnson 2.0. Gose might provide more value with his D.

Looks like a perfect platoon situation next year to me

With Reimold around to hit from the right-side and Gose providing better OF defense and speed to boot, there's really not much need for Pillar and we all know he's in the doghouse anyways. He really should have been traded by now.

Jeez I hope Reimold stays healthy the rest of the season

Reimold can't play CF or adequate defense. Plus he can't stay healthy.

I think the point is that Reimold is more valuable right now, since Gose is here for any defensive replacement in the OF.

Yeah but Rasmus is about to be DFA'ed, then what do you do?

What is this? A hypothetical scenario? An over-reaction to the Tony Rasmus piece? I don't even understand where you're coming from with this.

If Rasmus is lost for some reason than yeah maybe Pillar is called up but if you're suggesting that the Jays are so fed up with Rasmus that they would kick him to the curb intentionally just to replace him with a player who has already alienated the manager, I think that's pretty ludicrous.

I just think he'll be put on waivers and a team will claim him and jays will be happy to free that money up

how much money do you think he's making? This isn't a Alex Rios situation

Don't see the point. If this was before the deadline maybe you free salary in order to take on a salaray via a trade but with a waiver situation, you'd have to let Ramsus go while also being able to simultaneously making a claim on someone you feel is just as valuable and doesn't make more more money and that someone would have to be so good that to justify taking a major blow to CF depth. I just don't see it. The team is in a playoff situation, their best move is to ride Rasmus until the end of the season and hope they get the most out of him.

Odds are he's already been put on waivers and cleared them...
