Interesting tidbit - if only for me :)

In the top of the 1st inning today, the GCL Blue Jays had THREE non-consecutive triples. BTW, major league record is (I believe) the Red Sox, in 30's, not only did they get 5 triples in a game but they were in fact consecutive.

Carreno before tonight between AA and AAA

64 K's

12 walks

We have so many quality bullpen arms going forward. I see no reason why we shouldnt deal Janssen now.

Another good pitching night in Vancouver. The Canadians are leading the league in team ERA and WHIP. Quality pitching almost every night from what I have seen. My nephew, Matt Dermody, was assigned to Vancouver recently, so I haven't watched closely until recently. He is splitting games with Silverstein from Virginia. Both have pitched pretty well.

A little off-topic, but at the Bisons game in Syracuse on Wednesday night Brett Lawrie struck out looking and then proceeded to give the ump a piece of his mind, even in a AAA game. It looked like Lawrie pointed to himself and asked the ump "do you know who I am?!"

Dwight Smith is another player who had a really bad year last year - his first. He's putting up better numbers in Lansing this year, definitely at least showing the speed and his OPS is improving as well.

This guy just doesn't get it.

Dickie Thon Jr.... had 3 walks today. Could he be turning it around?

6 multihit games in his last 10, in that stretch hitting .421/.522/.995. He's still striking out too much though and has only 1 extra base hit in that stretch.

The one thing that stands out to me as I listen to Vancouver games is the arm strength of Dickie Thon Jr. Can't believe that won't help his cause at some point.

Evan Smith made his first appearance for GCL today: 2IP 2H 2ER 2BB 0K

Barreto 1-4 2B (.318/.416)

Andres de Aza has been doing well for GCL (.302/.375) in 12 games

To be honest, I'm just gla the kid is healthy and able to play regularly for really the first time since he was drafted.

Norris: 4IP, 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 5K.

Promote him to Dunedin.

Ok, kidding about promoting him to Dunedin.

Is it just me or is Deck McGuire striking out more hitters? I know he's struggled since the start of last season, but maybe he's on the weighted ball program or something.

57k over his last 57 innings. His problem is still walking a few too many and being too hittable. 60 hits and 21 walks over those same 57 innings. At this point his ceiling is a number 5 starter, more likely limited to long relief.

Cardona sat 95-97 and touched 98 tonight. Minor league gun so take it with a grain of salt, but even taking 2 mph off, that's still great for a 19 year old. Too bad he hasn't been able to control it for s***, and pitched a total of 55 innings so far in his pro career stateside.

Yeah, not much can be learned from hits allowed in the low minors since defense is shaky at best. More his walk rate that is concerning.

4.33 go/ao so far this year, but extreme sss

Third season in short season actually. He was in the GCL for the last 2 years.

At this rate we might see Franklin Barreto first.
