Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Another big road win... Big Bert with the Hatty! They looked exhausted in that game. Really gutted it out.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 AM34 GPG... 0.92 The only players to beat that is Mario and The Great One!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Gotta love that finish tonight in Chicago. I mean I watched live but f***, that was a romantic finish.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 AM34 GPG... 0.92 The only players to beat that is Mario and The Great One! Bret Hull in 90-91 also
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Bret Hull in 90-91 also Did he, ??? Marcel Dionne was close. I just read a meme. It had no Gretzky while he had 2 seasons over 1 and several 70 goal seasons. Yes, Hull kills this number, 1.06

It had no Gretzky while he had 2 seasons over 1 and several 70 goal seasons. Yes, Hull kills this number, 1.06 I saw that same one, they left off a decent number of seasons with other players that were better to make Matthews look even greater than he already is. All time though he is currently 5th at .65 goals per game (minimum 200 goals to qualify). Mike Bossy is tops at .76, Mario .75....Gretz and Ovi are tied at 7th with .60
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Mogilny also scored 76 in 77 games in 92-93, the same year Selanne scored 76 in 84 games (.904 GPG). Mario scored 69 in 60 that year, missing a quarter of the season for Hodgkins and still won the scoring race with 160 points in 60 games. Insane.

He was on pace for 94 goals and 219 points that season. It was like Bonds in '04 kind of dominance.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Fun to look at career stats for Crosby and Ovechkin now Crosby could really climb the all time assists leaderboard if he plays a few more years Ovie might be cooked, probably won't set the goal record. Bit sad. Joe Sakic might be the most underrated player in history. What a stud.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 (edited) Leafs have the best goal differential in this 7 game stretch in 31 years, cool beans. I'd be smitten for another W tonight. Oof... played alright though. Edited February 28, 2024 by Spanky99

Bit sad. Joe Sakic might be the most underrated player in history. What a stud. This made me look at this all-time list. The name that stood out to me was Mark Recchi. 14th all time in total points? I never even considered him a star player! I knew he put up some big seasons early on, but I thought it was because he played on lines with some true star players. He only exceeded a point per game in 6 full seasons? I certainly thought of Joe Sakic as being a f***ing stud.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 I certainly don't think of Sakic as underrated that f***er was awesome.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 I certainly don't think of Sakic as underrated that f***er was awesome. He was my favourite player. But now, nobody really talks about him much when discussing the all time greats. They say he had the best wrist shot ever, but that's what you hear.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Brett Hull > Everyone lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Tanev to Dallas I just heard. 3 team trade involving Jersey. Calgary acquired defenseman prospect Artem Grushnikov and the Stars' second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a conditional third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. New Jersey received Dallas' fourth-round pick in the 2026 draft.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Hyman has 40 goals in 56 games... who called that?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I want Pitt to catch that last spot. They just need to win those games in hand. C'mon Jarry, bro!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 When I think of Sakic, I think of Stevie Y... great players. Great builders now too. I think of Ron Francis in that group too.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I think of Ron Francis in that group too. Good call.
BatFlip Verified Member Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I certainly don't think of Sakic as underrated that f***er was awesome. That guy was so fking clutch - and he'd take it up another gear in the playoffs. I was living in Vancouver during his prime and remember him burying the Canucks so many times.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Ilya Lyubushkin pulled from Anaheim's starting lineup. Leafs are one of the teams involved in conversations for him.

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 The fact that you don't remember him probably answers the question (no) but it raises the floor on their third pairing I guess
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 The fact that you don't remember him probably answers the question (no) but it raises the floor on their third pairing I guess Just asking as I'm not much of an NHL fan. Now that I've stopped playing fantasy sports, I don't know the marginal players very well at all (not that this guy would ever have been considered for fantasy hockey anyway).
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
